Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2023-2024

I thought the first period WI played really well / Minnesota played not so good, other than completely crapping the bed on the d zone coverage on the Minnesota goal. Second and 3rd periods were rather even with humongous saves by both goalies. There was one inconceivably horrible turnover by Wisconsin the second period I think it was OB with a pass right to Minnesota in the slot I mean wow what a boneheaded play that was. Jane had two tremendous saves to bail her out. Wheeler took a boneheaded penalty in the 3rd period and of course LEs 3rd period penalty was also boneheaded. LE did Redeemer self with probably the goal of the year in overtime, though going to overtime did cost the team a point, but Minnesota may have scored on the 6 on 5 anyway so you really don't know how it would have turned out had she not taken it.
 
I've got to admit the winning OT goal looked pretty impressive especially given that she was being pulled down and still got the shot off. If she hadn't scored a power play would have been called.

Just a couple minutes before, a friend of mine and I were commenting on what an advantage her 'length' is; her reach and the length of the stick she's able to use. She scored that goal last night because of that length, as she did scoring against Minnesota in the NCAA semis last year.
 
Curl and LE flipped lines. I'm not sure from an offensive standpoint I like the move. Could be for d to control the Murphy line better.

A pretty even period overall. MN doing a great St. Cloud impersonation blocking shots and clogging passing lanes.

At one point in the first period, shots were 7 to 3 in Minn favor. From then on it was Wisconsin 28, Minnesota 10. Very well played game by UW.

At that exact point I was really concerned, but yes after that point Wisconsin absolutely played a banger of a game. They played so much tighter today than yesterday. Did Ava even have a tough save?

Absolutely loved when backup Phil started "the thank you Abby" chant after her third penalty resulted in a Wisconsin goal. That was absolutely rich.

I noticed some Minnesota fans sitting in "your" seats. My theory is Frosty got them in early somehow; he's ducking you.

Yeah, that was a bummer. Yesterday he had his hand up against the glass I could have put my hand against the glass like we were holding hands in jail lol. Now if it was Muzzy, maybe I would have done it Haha Luckily we just slipped to the right and had still really good seats. One time when Murphy was skating to the bench we locked eyes. I've had this searing headache ever since.

Speaking of which you know the Muzzinator's husband is a pretty good size guy who played football for Minnesota and he just "might" have acquired a seat near you next weekend. I can't wait! (Big Grin)

Well Timster, it looked to be a brilliant move because they completely shut down Minnesota's offense with that lineup. The question is what does MJ do this upcoming weekend because tOSU basically having four number one lines? At least Wisconsin has the last change.

I don't recall her ever leaning against the glass with her hand but I am all talk and no action so no worries there lol. I'm just a big monkey typing crazy things that pop in my head. It would be really funny but I have no balls to do something like that.

I've always wanted to sit behind the Wisconsin bench and watch the Master at work, maybe I'll try that this weekend.

LOL Timothy!
I'll be honest, probably the only things one can learn from being up close to the Muzzinator is how to really hammer the chewing gum and totally master and rock in spike heels!
 
The 2nd and 3rd periods of game 2 this weekend and the 3rd period of game 2 at UMD were masterclasses in playing up to their potential. That is the roadmap to more trophies. The vision on the breakouts were most impressive in game 2. It all wasn't work up the wall, they had some beauty diagonal passes that were executed well, but also can be a tad risky if you don't make sure the passing lane is clean. KK had one such horrible decision and a F also had 1.

Gervais was mega tested and had mongo saves. Ava was not tested much and was up to the task.

Frosty and I are besties. He probably recalls the time he sat next to me and my son at the Jr. tourney fondly.

Is it possible that MJ will rotate goalies right through to the end? My gut says Ava should get the nod. Jane has had a couple leaky goals, but both have made big saves when they had to. I would be concerned for Jane's psyche for next season if she does not get the nod after not getting it last year.
 
If I recall correctly, Chayla participated in these activities last year and then elected to return. This might be the final word on who will be on next year's roster.

That is correct but now I have to go through the whole summer with this on my mind. Line up without OB and Curl seems rather hollow.

Picard Eden Woz, Simms, LE, Enright, Hall, Vasseur, Gorbo, McCarthy, Halverson Scannell. Just 12 F and only 7 with playing time this season and Gorbo's been a spot plus player, so 6 who played a regular shift. That's a pretty green lineup of F's. I hope Muzzy has a lot of F's graduating or UW will be at a significant disadvantage. I'd feel really really good if OB and Wheeler came back.

I see only 6 d as well if Kotlowski leaves.
