Wisconsin vs Total Recall

Re: Wisconsin vs Total Recall

With just 77 of 3424 precincts in, over 57K votes counted. Holy carp.

Re: Wisconsin vs Total Recall

Looking like a pretty classic close election. GOP/rural areas coming in early, metros reeling them in later.

Edit: Exits just recalibrated, now Walker 52/48. Does this mean anything? Nah.

I figured early returns would favor Walker, but +22?

Maybe it'll turn into a nailbiter, yet. I just have a feeling that the media was selling a closer election than we're actually going to get. Guess time will tell.

Re: Wisconsin vs Total Recall

Chicago style voting?

my best guess is some new (register at the polls) voters, but 19% over the number they had already registered is absolutely shocking for a city that size imo

and by shocking I mean, not believable...meaning that should be investigated to ensure there isn't what you're talking about (bussed in voters from out of county, out of state, whatever)

That's usually the case. However, in '60, Daley I wanted and got the Chicago vote in very early (no computers, of course).

Re: Wisconsin vs Total Recall

also - ....apparently 119% voter turn-out in madison

how does that possibly happen?

The denominator in % turnout is registered voters. So, if there are 100 registered voters in a town, and 90 of them show up to vote, and then 29 previously unregistered voters (due to age, not giving a ---, etc.) show up, you get "119%" turnout.

At any rate, not gonna happen.

Re: Wisconsin vs Total Recall

NBC Calls it for Walker.

Over on MSNBC, Ed Schwartz's head explodes, showering union goons with goo.

Re: Wisconsin vs Total Recall

@Redistrict: "#WIrecall The Cook Political Report does not "call" races, but in my view Scott Walker (R) has clearly beaten back the recall."

That guy is usually spot-on.
