Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXVI: Make him an offer he can't refuse

Any thoughts on wisconsin natives like Cliff Watson, Cooper Watson, Tristan Rostagno, CJ Eick choosing Michigan Tech? I know Cliff is a special case and Eick probably wasn't on Wisconsin's radar but how does WI lose out on the Watson guys and Rostagno?

Michigan Tech offered and Wisconsin didn't?

Pasties?

Cooper Watson would be more of a lose to Wisconsin if he were not left handed and they didn't already have commits from left handed dmen in his '96 birth year in Berkovitz, Ford, Tischke, & Linehart (not to mention '97 Stillwell).

ah ok...interesting

Not saying he is not a good college prospect, just seems the inn got pretty full at UW and at somepoint you can't get them all. Add in Dougherty (a righty), and the Badgers have FIVE '96 born dmen commits.

Yeah, Cooper is the Huskies' 4th '96 with one '97 and three '95s.

you can't get them all.

Of course we can. We'll just stack them up like cord wood over at the Coliseum with the Capitol's until we run low.

I've decide we need to sign Jordan Greenway off the US NTDP. At 6'5" he's the missing piece for a Utaski and Soleway line. Somebody just go and push all those other guys wanting to sign him up aside and make it happen.

I'd bet my grandmothers house he ends up in the OHL.

No doubt gram's house is pretty safe, I remember reading an article somewhere about how tight he was with the Plymouth Whaler people. Still... a kid like him is probably going to end up in the NHL no matter where he goes. Why not get a couple of years of free high quality education in the meantime? Ugh... never makes sense to me.

Oh well, still not giving up on my dream of a line in which Soleway is nicknamed "tiny".

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXVI: Make him an offer he can't refuse

I think I mentioned this kid before, but Tyson Jost played his third game in the BCHL with Penticton tonight as a 15 year old. He went one pick before Fabbro in the WHL draft. Another high risk/high reward type.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXVI: Make him an offer he can't refuse

Just got word former Notre Dame Academy forward Austin Vieth has committed to Alaska for next season.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXVI: Make him an offer he can't refuse

Source on Fabbro says, "Apparently he really liked it- keeping his cards close to his vest."

As Bags reported last week, he's going to visit the Boston Schools as well before making a decison on NCAA or WHL.

Another source tells me the Badgers had Tyson Jost lined up for a visit last weekend as well but something came up. Jost and Fabbro are buddies. UW would have loved to have them on campus at the same time.

We'll see. As I said in my article before, Fabbro and Barzal (Seattle Thunderbirds) are best buddies. It's probably a long shot, but it's a positive step to get the kid on campus from a UW perspective.

Badgers hosting another very important recruit this weekend, this time a 2014 forward. LINK

We want Camer-- oh, he's not going to the games. Anyway, this would be a huge pickup, being a forward for next year and all.

There aren't many elite forward options left for next fall, Hughes is one of them. From what I hear, it looks very promising for the Badgers.

Seems Hughes and Tyler Sheehy are about it for higher end forwards capable of coming in and playing next season. We really could use both (especially if we lose either Kerdilies or LaBate)....but not sure the money is there to pull that off.

Of course, as far as I know, there's really nothing preventing a large group of Crease Creatures spontaneously gathering outside LaBahn on Sunday. You know... to practice this sort of cheer. Maybe even practice making signs against the eventuality they will one day be allowed back in the KC...

Just sayin'... it would be a good practice.

Speaking of Tyler Sheehy, (12 games 6g, 8a, +7 wi/Waterloo) Are we really in the running? Or offering him? Encouraging that Dougherty signed... Maybe Osiecki would still play a part in steering him toward the Badgers... (For those following along, Osiecki and Sheehy are both from Burnsville, MN and Sheehy was a former Osiecki recruit at OSU.) Money might be an issue, but at least helpful that Sheehy is a Minnesota kid.

I realize it's all a difficult balancing act, but I'd think with Christmas breaks coming up, we're going to be nailing down most of what we're going to do pretty soon. Probably not signing too many guys next summer to come in the fall, I wouldn't think.
