Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

I hope you are joking.

no i wasn't kidding, i don't follow the UW recruiting trail all that closely until we know who's will be coming in for the next season then i try to learn about them then, future recruits i don't know that much about...

thanks for the links chuck

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

The offseason sucks...
ALL off seasons suck. I've gotten to really dislike MLB, so I really go into a daze after the Stanley Cup Finals. (I don't go into a cave, I still fish and mow and stuff!) I'm thankful for USCHO, 60min, etc.

That's when I start the countdown to NFL training camp and Badger football.

Your post is almost verbatum to what I would have posted, except I loosely follow the Brewers. Fishing takes up my weekends all summer and into the fall. My eldest son is mowing the lawn for me these days. :D Obviously MCR Jr has been out of the house for some time now, so you are back to mowing your own lawn.

Wisconsin Hockey: Get the net, it's a big one!

I'm laughing so hard it hurts. BACK to mowing my own lawn????? That's a good one, Tim. It's STILL mowing my own lawn.

(PS,Tim; MCR Jr graduated from MSOE last weekend, but he's going on to grad school, so the lawn remains mine!!!

Open house Saturday. Wisconsin Buffet = Beer & Brats!!))

Amen to that. Once the Stanley Cup Finals are over, I focus on fishing and golf until football season starts and then just a couple months later hockey season starts again.
Ive really, really tried to get into baseball; but its just not for me. Its too slow-pace for my liking.

So is it against some Madison City Law to have children to semi-manual labor(as in mowing the lawn)? I say semi-manual labor, because a child spotted doing manual labor in Madison would get the parent in serious doo doo.

Of course, with MCR Jr being a goalie, you couldn't risk him pulling a hammy doing the lawn, right?

Congrats to MCR Jr on his graduation.

With you, GoBucky36 and I being fisherpeople, I'm smelling a USCHO/UW fan fishing tournament.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

As bad as college reffing can be, at least there isn't some grand agenda at work.

All we need now is for Ric Flair to jump on the ice and hit Toews with a folding chair and the circus will be complete.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I hate NHL refs.

Yup, that Hawks are pretty much getting screwed in this series. Dont even get me started on Pronger and the "theft" of the game pucks.

Obviously if the refs decide to let them play it is going to favor Philly because they play a more in your face game but the alternative is watching a cup final with very little 5 on 5 hockey. How does that give you the best team at the end of the day? I haven't heard anything in any media about the refs being bad at any point. I think its been a great called series and i think on one of the broadcasts they even said that its been a very fairly called series and the players know where the line is, at least its not changing every night. Consistency is the most important thing in a cup final. The flyers have been close to crossing the line but its the Stanley Cup Final... and until they cross the line i don't have a problem with anything the flyers have done so far.

As far as the puck thing...What? Should pronger have got a penalty for taking the game pucks??? please... there is a cooler full of iced pucks, most of which were used at some point in the game, because i think they change them out on every TV timeout anyway, specially with the average ice, the colder the pucks the better...if someone wants a game puck, all they gotta do is ask the ref for one after the game...

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

uw14: I think the issue is that we've had five games of the Flyers acting like the 2006-07 Ducks. Lots of holding, clutching and grabbing not getting called and its getting annoying. How Scott Hartnell went almost five games without getting called for an elbow is beyond me.

It goes both ways, they are letting them play hockey... If everything was getting called it would be a strictly special teams stanley cup and i don't think anybody wants to see that... I sure don't. I think the games have been very exciting, i have no problem with the way any of the games have been called. Its been rough but fair. Burish got away with some elbows and cross checks as well so i'm sorry i just fail to see it the same way you guys do. Maybe its because i'm 50/50 on this final and i just want to see a good product put out there for the good of the sport and so far that is what we are getting....

No, it wouldn't be. If everything gets called, the Prongers, Hartnells, and Eagers realize they won't get away with it, so adjust their play accordingly. This leads to more space for the skilled players to fly around.
