Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

4 more wins and Burr gets his name on the Cup.

Go Hawks! :D

This finals is going to suck. I really hate anything associated with Flatland, I really hate the arrogant Bahston'ers, and the Phili fans are usually a bunch of loud jerks (but so are Cubs and Bears fans). Will Burr be enough for me to root for a team from IL?

Alright. Go Hawks.

But I'm NEVER rooting for the Wild. EVER!

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

I just had a great thought on who Eaves should have hired instead of Schuey...Cary Eades. Why not double down on totally hated old opposing players as coaches. One could say Eades and Butters are easily in the top 5 of all time hated opposing players. Eades has to be #1.

Hey, I hear ya. I've been a Hawks fan for 30 years now and I still feel a little dirty when I have to associate myself with Chicagoans. Just seeing those tools on TV makes me cringe, but I am a fan of the team, not the city or people.

The downside of a Hawks title will be that a lot of Bears and Cubs fans will be happy even though many will be bandwagoneers.

The hate is swelling in you now. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you.

I have been to a dozen or more Blackhawks games the past 4 years. (Of course I saw a break-out 3 years ago.) The TRUE DIE-HARD Blackhawks fans seem to be different than the Bears, White Sox, Bulls, and Scrub fans. They are actually fun to be around, but I think hockey is the common denominator. MCRJr played against MANY Chicagoland teams during his AAA run and rarely ran into a-holes. Sure they were loud, arrogant, braggarts (see Roman Craig, "The Great Outdoors" filmed in northern Wisconsin), but at the end of the day they would invite you out to join them for food & drink.

Again, HOCKEY is the common denominator.

Can you imagine the party at the Kohl Center if/when Burish brings La Coupe Stanley to Madison?

Let's Go 'Hawks!

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

If we ever meet, a fistfight might break out.

Ahh, yes, your roots show themselves. You will never be free until you rid yourself of your senseless feeling for the Dark Side :)

I'll also never root for the Dallas Stars because they used to be the Minnesota North Stars.

I am proudly blindly pro WI in everything and anti MN and IL in everything that is non-political. I'm smart enough to realize I'm the crazy one the other Badger Bretheren who root for the Hawks and the Wild are one step saner than me.

Thanks for not blasting me on my one post from yesterday where I implied the Bruins were playng the Flyers. I don't know what I was thinking, or not thinking.

Go Hawks.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

My rooting interests are justifiable from a Wisconsin standpoint.

The North Stars* and Wild have never been responsible for Milwaukee never getting an NHL team. The Blackhawks, on the other hand, campaigned against it, even after Milwaukee had an arena.

* Granted, Norm Green could have moved to Milwaukee instead of Dallas, but that considering that every Stars fan wants to fire him out of a cannon into a brick wall, I'll say that he doesn't count.

I'm begrudgingly rooting for Chicago over the Flyers. But only because of Burish.

Wisconsin folk,

Some guy from Novosibirsk posted your games against RIT and BC in 2010 Frozen Four on the Russian bittorrent tracker, rutracker.org, with commentary and play-by-play in Russian:

vs. RIT:http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2890039
vs. BC: http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2890991

The Russian commentators are professionals, albeit of a regional, as opposed to national stature: Alexander Tkachev and Sergei Kashirskii. Sergei Kashirskii was the Vice President (and a de-facto GM) of HC Spartak Moscow from 2002 to 2006. Spartak is one of the more famous old Soviet clubs.

The files in the torrent also have English soundtrack (Gary Thorne & Barry Melrose). I haven't actually downloaded these, so can't attest to quality. I assume Sergei Kashirskii is doing color commentary and Tkachev is doing play-by-play.

Thought you guys might find this interesting or at least amusing.

Thanks, pretty cool JUST TO LOOK AT. However, personally I would never download anything from Russia, Nigeria or any of those virus producing countries.

A few brief comments on recent topics of interest:
-Go BURISH!
-Yay SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUchuck!
-South Park ex-rodent for the other coaching spot? Eh.
-Like the schedule well enough- I think we're considering an Omaha roadtrip.

Re: Blackhawks deep sixing Milwaukee's opportunity to get a team. I don't recall all of that but at that time (early 90's) I was so much more into NCAA hockey that I didn't really care about the NHL until the SC playoffs. Still don't for the most part...

but since it's been brought up...This is a classic that never gets old. Badger beating the **** out of a rat.

FYP ;)

This is one my favorite Burish fights. Just back from his injury in March. Eddie O is loving it! Who will he punk on the Flyers?

No, they've said all along that he is waiting until the end of the Stanley Cup playoffs:

Smith, from Mimico, Ontario, was a first-team All-American, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Year and the top-scoring blue-liner in the nation. He's talked with Red Wings officials and it was decided he would sign in mid to late June, which coincides with the end of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
