Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Beating up on Holy Cross: not something that every school can lay claim to.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

The 2 GOALS that were disallowed on Friday proves the refs and umpires in any kind of sport are to brainless to make the right call. If there is any questionable call that needs to be made instant replay needs to be used, ecspecially if the game is at stake (like it was). Every sporting event needs instant replay and thats final.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

[Rant]You know, I was excited after last season, I added 2 season tickets so I have 4 now...and I'm already regretting it. Not because of the team - I love the coaching staff, the way the team plays, etc. - but because of the asininity of the UW athletic department. It's basically been one thing after another for the last few years that they've done to clearly show they don't really care about the hockey program.

Not that it's that big of a deal, but the latest just adds to the list - let's schedule the home opener (for Saturday night season ticket holders) for 1pm on a Sunday when the Packers have a home game at noon. Brilliant. I'll go either way, though it's going to be tough finding 3 others to ride along (being in Appleton, folks up here are a little more crazy for the Packers than in the southern part of the state), but the place will probably be half full. And I've ranted time and again about the atmosphere being one of the biggest reasons I love Badger (and college) hockey.

I realize why the game was pushed to Sunday, but the timing just couldn't be much stupider. A fall football afternoon is going to keep a lot of people away, and the team are the ones who will suffer.

The football game is at night, not the afternoon. Wouldn't make sense for both to be playing at the same time.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

He's talking about the Packer game.

Yep. Just seems to me most people on a nice fall afternoon would rather watch football or do something outside. Of course a Sunday night game wouldn't be overly popular either, but I'd prefer it. Actually I'd most prefer a Thursday/Friday series, not sure why they never do those when Saturday isn't an option.

The replays on No Alibi's No Regrets cleary show Rammers goal for sure was a goal. You couldn't see with the camera angle whether or not Zengerle kicked it in or not. I guess if they weren't using replay, it was hard to tell because it hit the inside crossbar so hard and flew right out.

That is the first thing I thought of when I heard what happened.

THe screw jobs over the years by the officials is a long list, and I don't like writing that because it sounds like an excuse, but the WCHA refs (and apparently others around the country) just plain suck.

Theres really no need to write it because its pretty much common knowledge.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

I understand that officicals have tough jobs, can't see everything, and have to make tough judgement calls but these replay situations really anger me. From looking at a still frame instead of the full video to not using a great replay system that was in place is simply stunning. Incompetence in the moment is understandable on occasion, but not when have the freakin' tape!

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

What is the best Bar on State St/University Ave to watch a Badger Hockey gm? Or is Nitty Gritty the best as old-timers and true Badger hockey fans are always there before and after? I want to watch the game where it is going to be on most TVs w/ Audio over the entire Bar and with ppl that care.

THEY HAVE THAT SOMEWHERE!??!?!

I hate to say it, but you're going to be hard-pressed to find a place like that that plays audio as well... you're probably best off at Wandos or the Gritty. Good luck, and ON WISCONSIN!

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

What about Kollege Klub? They seem to have a lot of UW Hockey memorabilia on the walls and didn't Burisch bring the Stanley Cup there out of all places? What about State St Brats as well?

The Gritty, Wandos and Dottie's are my favs. BW3 on State Street would be another good option. Youre probably going to be out of luck with the audio though.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Ottawa's goalie got hurt once again so Elliott came in and got the W. Looks like he's going to see some extended time.
