For all the young ones. Awesome. :D

6-0 win today for the Badgers over Holy Cross. Smith got two, including one that according to Capobianco should get on the end of season highlight reel.

Hopefully one of the parents had their video camera going.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Raise your hand if you picked Ryan Little and Derek Lee to be tied with Craig Smith for the scoring lead with 2 goals a piece after 2 games.

I think guys like Turnbull, Smith and Murray will lead the scoring throughout the season, but it's great to see other guys building some confidence early as well. Hopefully they'll be able to keep contributing throughout the season. A balanced attack would be a great accomplishment with such youth in the forward lineup.

Make that a hatty!
All WI-type goals, first - a multi-deflection, second - chipping away in front, third - a pass from behind the goal.

Listened to the Badger games on the radio this weekend. It sounded like we got hosed with the lack of replay in St. Louis. What's the story? Would either of those near-goals have counted?

Mom's cute! ;) :D . I assume the other is sis? Kind of funny how you can hear the ladies "WOOOOOOOOOO" over the silence in Buffalo.

With all respect to Steps, the Rangers can still b**w me.

Little is a shocker for sure, Lee is not. He can be a top 5 scoring guy on the team at the end of the season. I'd probably slot him ahead of Podge in the scoring hierarchy and behind Murray, Smith and Zengerle.

Friday...Listen to the game with Posic. Goody played better than the score indicated. Too bad Rammer and Gardiner got crossed up on the breakaway. The blogger from yesterday said Rammer's goal should have counted for sure and Z's kick in wasn't a kick at all, thay one should have counted too. So if they don't get screwed twice, they at least get to OT with momentum and have a chance to win.

Sunday...loosley followed the blog, UW played very well. Great bounceback from adversity game, though I don't think Holy Cross is that good. I can't imagine their team ever beating any WCHA team, past or present ;)

I think UAH will provide a decent test for UW. The most important thing is to keep building the confidence up of the young lads. It's a shocker after 2 games to have 13 players with at least a point.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Tough loss on Friday for the Badgers, but it sounded like their performance was encouraging and that if they hadnt gotten screwed over by the lack of overhead replay; they would have probably won that game.
Losing Smith in the early stages of the game certainly didnt help either. At least they got to beat up on Holy Cross on Sunday!

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Beating up on Holy Cross: not something that every school can lay claim to.

That, my fellow Badgers, is what you call "an oldie, but a goodie".

Be Careful. Brenthoven might troll our thread now.

What were your guys' thoughts on Craig Johnson? From what I heard listening to the game on Friday it sounds like he is going to have an impact this year. Hopefully he learned something from being on the bench all those years.

His abilities as a stay at home defenseman were overlooked when you had to compare him to the offensive wonders that were Smith, Goloubef, McB and McD. I think we will continue to be pleased with his performance in his own end, and he'll probably benefit from more opportunities with the loss of our top-end D-talent.

Honestly, I'm not sure who among the diehards here will be surprised if he has a solid senior year.

If Craig Johnson doesn't have an impact, he has an impact. The less I hear Craig Johnson's name this season, the better he is playing.

Craig will be a regular. And I hope I rarely hear his name, because that mean's he's doing his job.

PS...Exile...love your comment on Madison.com re: Practice facility

I believe he will have a solid sr. year. Everytime he was got a chance to play in the last 3 years, he has not disappointed with his defensive play. His not playing much in the past isn't an inditement of his ability; it's a testiment to the great recruiting job UW did the last 3 years on D.

The only reason he didn't play last year was because of depth. I've always been a fan of the game Johnson plays, I like stay at home defenders, and as Chuck said when you don't hear his name (outside of an assist or rare goal scored) he is doing his job well.

This season seems to be a nice mix of defensive types on the blue line, and while it is a drop off from last season, ANYTHING would be a drop off from last season. The Badgers still have a very solid group.
