Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Jordy Murray was considering going to Europe and play this next season?

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

It does not surprise me in the least bit that Bur is taking it to the KK. Where else would The King Of The Jersey Chasers go?

I used to go there for their afternoon cheeseburger special (burger fries and soda for $4!), the place is highly tolerable before 7 pm or so.

Yeah, I was not suprised at all that it was going to the KK (Still hoping on the Terrace where he took the Championship in "06). I agree it is tolerable before 7 but after that...way too much frat action for me.

Tim, that was going around a couple of weeks ago, about the same time rumors of Gardiner leaving were going around. I couldn't find a post, but maybe it was Chuck who was on it.

RE: Coup de Stanley; Bur, rent the ****in' Kohl Center. The KK? C'mon, that thing will be lucky to leave with all of it's rings.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Baggot mentioned several weeks ago that Murray was considering Europe, in the same article he talked about Gardiner mulling over his choices for the upcoming season.

Regardless, I'm very happy to have them back in the fold. Even though the offense will be down, I think Gardiner has a shot at an All American season. Murray gets huge minutes this season, along w/ Craig Smith he'll be the go to guy at forward; he wouldn't have found that in Europe as a pro.

I missed that rumor entirely, and thankfully. I would have been on suicide watch had I read that, because of the "what will go wrong next" factor.

To quit school to go play in Europe would be a pretty lame move. Get your degree, Jordy.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Ex-Goof coach Mike Guentzel joined the Neb-Omaha staff today. I wonder if Eaves spoke with him about joining UW and taking Oz's position? Guentzel is a fine coach and developed a lot of top-flight D-men at Minnesota. The Goofs have been on the decline ever since he left and I don't think that's a coincidence.

He was Lucia's scapegoat the season he was forced out of minnesota too.

UNO has assembled quite the coaching staff down there, I don't think they have near the talent to compete w/ the top 5 or 6 teams in the WCHA, but that staff will get the most out of the current group and land more top flight talent in the future.

A win for the WCHA IMHO, at least w/ Blais at the helm.

OK folks, it's getting close. August 1 this Sunday.

The Pack opens camp this weekend...the Badger gridders open in 13 days.

Who has the ****ing countdown clock for Badger hockey?

Can you smell autumn in the air or is it too humid?

I don't know about a countdown, but it has been 1226 days since the Badgers won a game in OT. March 17, 2007, WCHA 3rd place game.

Sorry I'm obsessed that a team can't win ONE game in OT in 3 seasons:eek:

4 complete seasons?

More depressing. I absolutely dread when we go into overtime.

Way too humid yet. And the Perch fishing is just fantastic right now, don't rush this summer by too quickly. My freezer isn't full yet.

No doubt.

Some of you need some other interests. ;)

Caught some slab crappies myself last weekend along with a few walleyes.

Hockey will get here when it gets here.

PS - The pool is looking mighty fine right about now. Won't be able to say THAT in October.

I haven't gotten into a good school of Perch in years. Where are those Perch bitin' Timmy? ;) (When I was a kid, my grandpa would take me on Mendota and we would catch a mess of 12" to 14" Perch anytime.)

Nothing better than a plate full of breaded Perch or Walleyes, fried reds, and beer.

EDIT: I didn't mean to rush summer, but the Dog Days are here and wanted to start a discussion. (Fishing is good!)

Just got back from a week on a lake in Canada. We caught a few walleyes up there.
