Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

BUMP!

Anyone hear anything about Burish's Cup day? I assume he'll bring it to Madison and I'm thinking that he's the kind of guy that will have some sort of public event with it before he takes it to State Street.

I heard he was going to take it to Dallas, after all, it's a great pickup item at the bars.

Skille re-signed with the Hawks, just a 1-year deal at $600,000...I figured he wouldn't get anywhere close to his $1.25 MM cap number from last year. I think he'll get a lot more chances to prove himself with the Hawks this year because of the lower salary, and being a 1-year deal is good for Skille in that if he proves himself a capable NHL regular, he'll be due a much bigger contract next summer.

Probably the best deal for him, if only for the fact that it just covers this season.

The Hawks haven't given him enough of a chance to show his stuff, so it's no shock that he doesn't really have the clout to hit the open market. Hopefully he has a quality, injury free season so he can sign next year with a franchise that I don't hate.

Got some WCHA news Eau Claire native Seth Soley transfers from Michigan Tech to St. Norberts. Will Michigan Tech have a better season than last year.

They have a good chance at 11th, w/ UAA taking the basement back over. No experienced goalie, and a lackluster offense at best, going to be a long season for the seawolves.

I was pretty surprised to see him end up at the D3 level. From what I had heard he was not even considering that when he left Tech. And to be honest, I didn't think he needed to. Do you know if he had opportunities to play D-1 and chose to go D-3 to play next year or if he just simply was forced to go D-3 because no one wanted him?

I find it hard to believe that some of the smaller D-1 schools out east wouldn't take a Seth Soley. The kid still has plenty of talent.

So Little is moving to wing, with his tenancity and electric skating, per Baggott. UW did lose a lot of speed. I like the idea.

Is it really "electric"? Honest question...haven't seen enough of him to know if he's an incredible skater...I just sort of doubt it considering how little he's played. Hope he is though!

In high school he was definitely able to make incredible offensive plays from the D position. It seems he is generally more conservative at D since leaving high school. That being said, college hockey is a completely different planet of skill so we will see how he does.

From my perspective, he has more raw talent than his brother but he might not be able to make the transition to an "electric" forward in one year.

In the interview I did with him recently, he listed his skating ability as one of his strengths. Oddly enough, I also asked him which D would make a good forward in an emergency and he mentioned Gardiner and Schultz!

The thing about him is that his positioning was excellent as a defender and he is very, very competitive. It will be interesting to see how it works out. I chatted with Ryan briefly about it and he said he's willing to give it his best shot.

The other thing that occurred to me is that he's really never gotten to play with his brother on a team before growing up, and now they could be forward linemates (or maybe one will be keeping the other out of the lineup....YIKES!).

Chuck-

I do not know the answer to that at this time. I'll see if I can find out.

Re: Wisconsin Offseason '10: The Aftermath

I found this on a public facebook event.

"The Stanley Cup trophy and Wisconsin Alumni Adam Burish will be at The Kollege Klub on Wednesday, August 18th. "The Cup" will be arriving at 9:00pm and has a curfew of 11:30. Come one, come all and lets see if we can keep the cup out an extra hour!"

I kind of want to go but I absolutely hate the KK. Maybe I will bum around the terrace that day in hopes he brings it there. That is how I got a picture with the '06 champs with the trophy.

It does not surprise me in the least bit that Bur is taking it to the KK. Where else would The King Of The Jersey Chasers go?

I used to go there for their afternoon cheeseburger special (burger fries and soda for $4!), the place is highly tolerable before 7 pm or so.
