Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Day 27 = 27 more metaphors = 27 more excuses = 27 more days until the search for a new coach can begin.

Interesting question from Posick in the linked podcast when discussing whether Eaves should be fired. Roughly quoted as "Do you really trust Barry Alvarez and his group of administrators to hire the next hockey coach?"

Yes, very interesting. Like I posted, Posick treaded lightly, but I get it.

You know, I get that my job is pretty much dictated by you guys, but I do kind of need to show some sort of journalistic integrity when talking about the hockey program on the radio. I can't go out there and lie.

IIRC, Flights were cc, du, and uaa in the old WCHA for MN. UW may have had one or two additional flights.

Every other year in the College Hockey Showcase when MN & WI would travel to lower Michigan was a flight as well.

This bus or similar?

Because this one's in Boston. It's a common practice to send buses to transport teams for the weekend wherever they are. I don't know if they flew to Ferris or not but the bus would likely be there either way.

Yes, that was the bus or something very similar. It had Badgers on the side, and the front lighted signage read 'Wisconsin Hockey'.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Let's change gears for a bit. Enough playing "If I were the AD." What are the predictions for the weekend?

I say split. Sparty Friday-Bucky Saturday.

The hockey program took quite an extended beating on 1670 The Zone yesterday morning during The Joe & Ebo Show (8 to 11 AM I believe). I even heard some guy named Rich on the air. That's at least the second time it's been brought up in the past couple weeks. Heads are turning.

Even this morning on WIBA AM during the Lucas and Dawson show (minus Lucas) the program was getting bad air. Brian Posick was on and was understandably treading very lightly. Dawson and Robb Vogel were more outspoken.

I'm pretty sure sure this is coming to a head in 28 days, 8 hours, 22 minutes and 0 seconds as I type.

I'm glad that they care enough to discuss this stuff on the air. My biggest fear for the program is genuine, long-term apathy from fans as it slips from the local sports scene's focus.

that really kinda upsets me. "well we don't know of anyone better, so we'll just stick with eaves"

That's exactly how the topic started. One of the hosts brought up the fact that he's not hearing very much negativity and are Badger hockey fans getting apathetic? I did happen to get through and simply directed them to this website and the "other ones" as well. They promised to look them up. Then the calls came in.

I'm getting tired of talking about this as well, but I haven't, and cannot, comment on the team like I have the past 13 years, because I haven't been to a game since December 2014. I'll leave the reviews to those of you who go, and not to whoever covers the team in the papers. Maybe next year I will channel my money to the UW Hockey Program, instead of outsourcing to the NHL like I have the past 2 seasons. It's a helluva lot cheaper!

I'll predict a split only because both teams aren't very good. It's a coin flip.

I've always thought sending a bus from Wisconsin halfway across the country to pick up an athletic team from an airport was an odd way to do things, but it is what they usually do.

What are the predictions for the weekend?

It's unique in that there are some fans from both programs rooting for their own team to lose. Should make for a tremendous match up.

Badgers get 4 points.

Btw- the game is on BTN at 8 CST if anybody is wondering.

I never ever cheer for the badgers to lose......a real badger hockey fan stands behind his players and team no matter how bad the situation

A fan at the Penn State game tonight is holding up a "Goaltender U" sign. Excuse me. That U is already established!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

You know, it could have been worse.

I watched.

We're a team that can't quite finish enough and gives up too many untimely high quality scoring chances.

Other than that, we're alright.

:p

The women are on BTN tomorrow afternoon.

Looking forward to that one!
