I like that he made this statement, but if they only sent it to current season ticket holders, is it really going to reach all the people that it should? Why not share it publicly on social media?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Probably as close to a public apology as we'll ever see from Barry. Clearly the feedback/blowback from that comment was loud and clear.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Words are nothing more than wind (or, in this case, pixels) until there's action to back them up.

But ultimately you kind of have to file this one under "what else would you expect him to say?", because really... what else is he supposed to say in response to it all?

If there's anything to glean from this, it's nice to know that whatever grumbling the fanbase made actually reached his/PR's ears.

I'm pleasantly surprised by Barry's apology or more accurately his clarification.

It's good to see that either he or Jason King heard many of us and decided to at least email the season ticket holders.

For my call I was respectful in my voicemail to JK but adamant the comments made were incredibly inappropriate at worst and shortsighted at best.

Good on Barry for this one

I agree with this sentiment. They didn't put this out because of the grumblings of the 8-12 of us on this board. To me, this suggests that the Department is responding to a much more widespread level of discontent.

This is an excellent point.

I must have emailed JK too much, he doesn't respond to my emails anymore. Barry never has. And I never got this (I never get anything from them, unless they want money)

JK responds to maybe 1 out of every 2 or 3 emails I send.

I think they were compelled to respond because the amount of vm''s and emails from hockey fans is growing to a point where they cannot ignore the problem and it's possible now we're on the precipice of another mass exodus fans and they're seeing that???

The only way to know for sure will be to see what moves are made in the offseason.

While I think that making a change to the coaching staff is certainly warranted after the past 2 seasons, do you really think that they would do it on a Friday morning in the middle of the B16 tournament?

Something may happen on Friday or over the weekend, but I don't think we'll hear anything officially until Monday morning.

I was just taking advice from oldtyme25:

Well since I have not seen one yet....I thought I would start the countdown clock on Mike Eaves.

37 Days until the last projected game on Thursday March 17th, which is the quarter finals game of the Weak 6 league tournament.

Hopefully at 8:00AM on March 18th the search for a new head coach begins!!

At minimum, we'll have to wait for Barry to get back from the basketball regional

It should happen first thing the following Monday morning or it may not happen. They need to post the opening ASAP for the two week waiting period for a new hiring to start.

Good point, I hadn't made that scheduling connection.

One more reason that anything wouldn't happen for a few days after the last game. I don't think that BA is the kind of guy that would fire someone over the phone. Depending on which region the BB team plays in could mean that UW personnel wouldn't get home until Sunday night.

I think any move would be a middle of the week announcement.

Let the weekend of the 17th-20th be about basketball and let the next weekend (hopefully) be about basketball...drop the news about hockey in the middle where it won't disrupt one of the "important" teams.

Hey, look, hockey is in the newspaper. About time the program's downturn has been highlighted. Side note: no idea how Kelsey still has a job either.
