Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

why would I use that? everyone here is serious all the time!

Want to look at hockey history over time under Mike Eaves? Here you go. (I have too much time while on Paternity leave) 2008 was difficult to find anyone who left, so I had to try to go by memory.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xYtWeVIKJcgfh2mfNrTSrAjezVE6M6NngkO5CJ8wUbU/edit?usp=sharing

Green is wins, Reds are losses, Blue are ties. Magenta is games that went into over time (games like cornell that did multiple overtimes I added all the stats together for 1 entry) If there was a tie, i added win/loss in the AA column.

Comments/feedback welcome.

Thanks for sharing the chart, nice work. I noticed that Morgan Zulinick could be added to the "turned pro" list from last year.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

added, I went off of the USCHO list and they didn't have him listed.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

4-10-6

Last year was what? 4-24-5 or something like it? At this rate if they retain eaves the returns will diminish to one good season in four, then one average season on four.

C'mon Alavrez, get off you "I'm not a hockey guy" *** and fire Eaves.
And clean house too. I don't want anyone with ties to Eaves to remain on the coaching staff

Even though last year was a complete embarrassment, I could see how BA would allow for another year to see if things could bounce back. Eaves history with the program, coaching record and current contract, I could see how this would be a decision that could be made. After 20 games this year, it is clear that the program needs a fresh start. I don't see a mid-season firing, I don't think that is BA or UW athletics style.

Eaves has been a part of 33% of the UW NCAA titles, it is too bad things are going to end on such a sad note.

Jeff Slinde was a late add in fall of '04 and stayed part of the program through 05-06 with no official appearances.

Yes, Mark Heatley left after his sophomore year, (04-05) probably because it became clear he wasn't going to play as much as he did as a freshman, going forward. Went to U of Toronto and has made a nice career playing pro hockey in Germany since.

yeah, remember the names, but you you had him listed as '06 Looks like USCHO doesn't have him listed as on the roster.

root@Homer:~/hockey # grep -i sli *
root@Homer:~/hockey #
(I have all the rosters from uscho saved on my local computer, this says show me all that match "sli" doesn't matter the case)

so looks like i'll have some work cut out for me, and seeing if I can get a better resource for actual rosters. This also explains why I couldn't find him.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Since 2010 National Title game the team is 92-94-26. And only (2) NCAA tournament appearances in those six years both first round losses.

I am sorry, but that just doesn't cut it.

He's here:

But oddly not listed on UW roster either year on USCHO.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

I know that uscho isn't the official source, I now have some issues with the results posted on it. They have us listed as 107 overtime games in Mike Eaves career. (based on my spreadsheet, copied and pasted from their site) we have 16 wins, 23 losses, This results in 69 left overs, we know Eaves has 64 ties in his career, so we're missing 5 ties somewhere.

I can look at this more.

In the past 1.5 seasons, UW has won 8 games.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

ok i figured out what I did wrong, i'll poke around more.

ok this should be fixed up. If a user is different between two years he got listed, regardless of why they left.

Nice job on the stats and thanks for sharing.

I counted quick and there's 44 guys with 79 years of eligibility left on the table. That's about 25% of the total eligibility used up over the last 13 years. In other words, the difference between perfect and and the way it has gone is about 6 extra roster spots to be filled each year in addition to graduation losses.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Why you guys gotta be so negative all the time?

Good news everyone! I checked and if the Badgers can just manage to cobble together a little 14 game winning streak, there's a decent chance they make the tournament!

I love the enthusiasm McBaghdadBobBadgerton....but I'm pretty sure there is a better chance of this team losing 14 straight (only 12 more to go!!!) then them winning 14 total for the season (he!! a 2 year win total of 14 may even be a tad optimistic).

"There are no St Norbert infidels in Madison. Never!"
"No I am not scared, and neither should you be!"
"Be assured. Kohl Center is safe, protected"
"Lying is forbidden in Badgerland. President Mike Eaves will tolerate nothing but truthfulness as he is a man of great honor and integrity. Everyone is encouraged to speak freely of the truths evidenced in their eyes and hearts."
"I can assure you that those villains (the non-Eaves apologist) will recognize, will discover in appropriate time in the future how stupid they are and how they are pretending things which have never taken place."
"I blame Al-Jazeera - they are marketing for the Anti-Eaves!"
"They're coming to surrender or be burned in their tanks."
"Who are in control, they are not in control of anything - they don't even control themselves!"
"The authority of the civil defense ... issued a warning to the civilian population not to pick up any of those pencils because they are booby traps," he said, adding that the Gopher and Sioux forces were "immoral mercenaries" and "war criminals" for such behavior. "I am not talking about the Minnesota people and the North Dakota people," he said. "I am talking about those mercenaries. ... They have started throwing those pencils, but they are not pencils, they are booby traps to kill the children (or Badger puppies if they are not busy wetting the rug)."

Why didn't you just email Jason King for the data. Surely he has all that data at his finger tips.
