Blood Boiling with Rage and Hate
Well the second period was a return to form.
Just consider the source, ignore the whole statement, and move on. That's what I do.

Was Mike Eaves just asleep on the bench?

It's amazing how much better the Badgers look lately compared to earlier in the season. And it's not really just effort, they've been working hard for the most part, it's being in position, knowing where to go, and where to go with the puck. Good first period. Keep it up boys!
Let's Go Red!!!

I have to agree with MadCity Rich on this....
While they did give a decent 60 minute effort, we are so far behind in the recruiting curve it is scary!! Outside of maybe Besse, I don't think we have a forward who could crack Michigan's top 9 or a D-man who could get in their top 4. While they kept the game close, the skill gap between teams is shocking!!!!
Not only was Eaves asleep on the bench....it is apparent he was asleep at the switch for the past couple years!
Have to be quite the optimist to spin this turd. 4-22-4
Other ways of saying it, 4 wins in 30 games. The date today is March 1st, and the UW hockey team has 4 wins.

...what else can be said really? No matter which way you cut it, the end results are all on Eaves and his assistants. Time to clean house. Unfortunately it's going to take another 4-year plan from a new coach to get this ship righted and you know...climb the...oh wait, ships can't climb
Considering that we are at the nadair of the standard eaves cycle and should be at the end of the Butters recruiting hangover, I would think that a new coach should be able to turn things around quickly. But the real trick is to STAY at the top constantly, not to just get their and fall back to mediocrity (or worse).
So I am pretty neutral on the fire/keep Eaves thing. This season is a disaster, no doubt.
However, do we really think that Alvarez will just waste the $850k (or whatever the number is) and fire Eaves? It seems like whenever that fact is brought up, people just ignore it. Even if you want Eaves gone, you have to admit that is a lot of money for the #3 sport at the school....
that's true...the cupboard won't be as bare as it was when Eaves took over and he had 20 wins by season #2 IIRC...
hopefully BA gets serious and makes the decision that needs to be made.
It's not that much when you consider attendance. We ran some of these numbers before a game at the Red Shed.
Consider 2,000 less season tickets (or more), times 20 home dates, times $20 - equals $800k. So in one year, if you turn things around you can easily pay off the buyout. That is before concessions and parking. Now start keeping those new attendees at the games or getting them to the games and you sell more concessions. They have to notice the reduction in revenue through attendance and season tickets reductions and have to consider making a change just to stop the bleeding.
I have sent my letter to the Athletic Dept that this year is it, make a change or I won't be renewing some or all of my tickets for both nights. I am also waiting to see what happens on my donation to the Badger Fund which will be $0 if a change isn't made.
2,000 x 20 x 20 = 800k to be sure, but it's fully conceivable that we aren't necessarily getting that many fans back even if Eaves is mercifully canned.
Thanks, that makes sense, and I didn't think of it that way. It also helps for recruits to see a full Kohl Center rather than half-full.
How many more fans will be lost if Eaves isn't replaced?
