Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Apparently Keegan Ford committed to Michigan Tech today for those who care.

Maybe we should start wagers on where he ends up to start 16/17 after he leaves Tech mid season...I will take American International

He was likely blocked from transferring within the conference. I'm not speaking on information I have, but it wouldn't surprise me.

My understanding isn't that he can't transfer within the B1G conference, just that he can't recieve any scholarship if he does.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Given the quality of seasons MTU had from 1981-2013 it might be a little early to start tossing stones about the quality of the respective programs.

Lucky for Ford that he won't be playing for Michigan Tech in any of those seasons.

Hey, lets not go through 2013...Pearson actually has a winning record as a coach and things have been steadily improving since he got there.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Keegan's choices and mindset are suspect, but either way it shows to the depths that UW's program has fallen.

I don't wish ill will on the kid, and hope he is successful.

And most of us are happy for you guys.

I try to be nice but it was hard not to take a jab when given the chance...It has been a wonderful season, part of me still wishes to know just how good this team would have been under the old WCHA.

And part of me is very very hurt to know that one more win in Madison and I believe we're a number one seed in the PWR. Just more reasons to hate Red :D

I might be going to the WCHA tourney to cheer for your Huskies, assuming they don't blow the first round best of 3 next weekend.

I wouldn't go to the B1G tourney if it was at the Kohl Center.

If you come, let me know...we'll be tailgating like it was the old F5.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Hey, some people just prefer to be part of a winning program...
I think Keegan could have gone to Kato or St. Cloud as well, but he knew some of the boys at Tech, knew about the school and liked the area. A big part of it was probably that Tech has known about him since his days with Team Wisconsin and they think his speed and offensive instinct fits with Tech's new philosophy. I also think he'll do better at a smaller school away from home.

Seems like he'll be a good fit for Tech, but regardless, he'll probably do much better just based on maturity level alone, which is probably what was lacking this year.

And for the stone throwers, despite all it's success this year, Tech still hasn't swept in Madison since that one time in 1974. So suck it, Techies! :p

Also good luck. Tech is the most complete team I've watched this year and that seems pretty dangerous in a tournament situation.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

So Jason Ford was committed to Bemidji and Keegan Wisconsin at one point. Crazy that we're sitting here today with Jason at Wisconsin and Keegan committed to Tech.

MTU would likely be in the thick of the fight for home ice. UW would be fighting with UAA to stay out of 12th place.

The English language does not possess the proper non-explictive adjectives to express how truely bad this UW team is.

All that needs to be said is congratulations Keegan! I hope it works out and you have a fantastic career at Tech.

It is crazy. I'm glad Jason is here, he looks like a guy who will be an asset for UW. Too bad Keegan just couldn't stick it out, he only made the situation here worse for this season, but other players got ice time that hopefully will pay dividends next year. I wish him the best of times @ Tech.

Besides whatever locker room drama there was, he played 13 games someone else could have played if he was going to bail out.

Or conversely, and more importantly, if he would have stuck it out, Cullen Hurley wouldn't have had to burn a year of eligibility to play two games against Michigan. That's not Keegan's fault per se, Wittchow was out, but it is an indirect result of his actions. And that kind of sucks. Besides the personal lost year for Hurley, if he redshirts his spot moves out of this class. And if he does well over the next several years we'd have one more experienced guy left when this class exits. What little we saw of Hurley I thought wasn't half bad. He's a pretty good skater.

That said, I still have no ill will toward Keegan and wish him well. I agree on Jason, it appears he can be a good player for UW, so I'm glad he got the opportunity.
