You got a lotta nerve to show yer face round these parts...

Welcome back! :D

Why would you hammer Chuck? Kidding? He gives out more relevent information on the hockey program than anyone and he lives in St Cloud MN.

Please check your sarcasm detector to make sure that it is in proper working order, thanks.

Haha they are just kidding around with me since USCHO put me on a time-out for 2 weeks. (And no, I don't want to get into that)

I actually missed out on how you got the suspension. What did you do, throw a PayPal donation button on a post or something? *runs and hides*

Chuck's permanent record is now prominently marked by the statement: "Does not play well with xenophobic Gopher fans"

A lot of the same issues Wisconsin is dealing with, Minnesota went thru the past 5 years. Not everything is relatable, but a bunch of this looks like what you guys are dealing with:

No one likes people who take from others and call it their own much either.

Especially when you beg players to join your team.

That's sad :(

No one likes people who take a sport from others and make a pastime of calling it their own either.

That's sad.

Shows how little you know. We've been playing the Canadians since the beginning. It just took the rest of you decades to catch on.

:)

Minneapolis Ariel, February 16, 1895.* Page 5:

“The University of Minnesota hockey team will play a game for the championship of Minneapolis against the Minneapolis Hockey Club at their rink, at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Eleventh Street South.* The game is preparatory to the game to be played Monday afternoon by Winnipeg and the University of Minnesota.* Winnipeg is champion of the world.* Winnipeg has returned from a rough trip through eastern Canada and has defeated without too much trouble Montréal, Toronto, Victoria, Ottawa, Québec, and the Limestone’s.* The University started practice two or three weeks ago and played against a Minneapolis team, being defeated 4-1. A week and one half ago that they defeated the same team 6-4.* Tonight they play the tie off for the championship.* Dr. H.A. Parkyn has been coaching the boys every afternoon.* He has a couple of stars in Willis Walker and Russell.*
Walker plays point and Russell cover-point, with Van Campen in goal. Parkyn
and Albert are center forwards. Dr. Parkyn’s long experience with the Victoria
team of Toronto, one of the best, makes him a fine player.* Thompson and
Head, the other two forwards, are old ice polo players and skate fast and pass
well. Van Campen, quarterback on last year's football team, plays goal well.*
Many tickets have been sold for tonight’s and also Monday's game. Tickets
are $.25, ladies come free. The excitement of these games is intense, and
surpasses that at a football game.”

In 1960, you could go into any wheat town in Manitoba or Sask with a population of 200 or more and find an indoor rink, usually with a curling ring snuggled alongside. You could also get a game with almost any age group, including old men with more memories than teeth. You didn't have to be near Winnipeg, Brandon, Regina, or Saskatoon for this to be true. Minnesota's hockey culture was nowhere near that prevalent.

And in 1960 UW didn't have a hockey program.

And, despite the fact that UW somehow managed to pass UMinn in hardware, explains why Badger fans don't claim founder's rights to the game.

Sorry, Minnesota has 7 national championships. I'm not of the younger generation of Minnesotans that apologizes that our program has more history. And of course they don't claim founder's rights. UW is a plug-n-play program. So is UND. Nothing special about a plug-n-play program.

Move along boys, you have your own thread(s) where you can continue this never ending urination competition.

Sexist b@st@rds.

Great interiew with Dauber on 1070 this am about his ordeal over the last year. I sure hope his son Axl will be one of those great legacy recruits for the UW. Daubenspeck was an awesome goalie. I'll never forget the 1-0 quadruple OT game 2 loss@ CC in the playoffs, he nearly single-handedly willed the team to the win.

Next year's WIAA basketball tournament may be moved to the Resch Center in Green Bay.

It's interesting, since one of the reasons for the move is this:
The WIAA issued a statement Thursday saying it would enter into a five-year agreement with the Resch Center if the University of Wisconsin can’t accommodate the basketball tournaments in accordance with the terms of the existing agreements.

The conflict centers around the UW’s inability to guarantee use of Madison’s Kohl Center for state tournaments.

The weekends for the 2013 basketball tournaments at the Kohl Center have been reserved for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.

If those can’t be changed, the basketball tournaments could move to another location in Madison or to Green Bay if the WIAA can get out of the final year of the contract that expires in 2013.
Hey, maybe we'll have a good year next year, so this won't be much ado about nothing...
