Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Those lakes are gross anyway. They look real nice as an accent to the cityscape, but you gotta go north.

Like you said though, all those lakefront properties are already owned by state workers.

I suppose the Oscar Meyer and Raovac Execs. own some lakefront property too. :) I couldn't resist the little jab, thanks for not flying off the handle.....seriously what % of non-student Madison residents work for the state, either through the UW itself, the medical facilities, or for all the State agencies? It's not a negative thing, just the facts. There's a lot of high paying state jobs in Dane County.

I actually think it's pretty cool when fishing Mendota to look around and see the cityscape. What's really neat is to be fishing on a fall Saturday aft and hear the roar of the crowd at Camp Randall.

Who me? Fly off the handle?

For the sake of the thread, let's not go there though... :)

I like the view from some of the rooms of the Mendota Hotel. I have to think Gurt has stayed there too.

I'm sure he's taken his lovely significant other there a time or 2 on a special day to "enjoy the view".

Not having met Mrs. Gurt, I really don't know. She's probably seen the rooms, but I doubt she's ever been a registered guest. The ambiance is all Gurt, though, and it has extended stay deals you just can't turn down.

Rumor is Cody Goloubef is the next former Badger to play in the NHL.

There is a kid that should have stayed here. Only took 2 years . His shot from the point got worse over time as a Badger.

Also posted in the UW-DU series thread:

A note for those of you heading to the game on Friday:

Kirk Daubenspeck, former UW goalie who was in an extended coma after a car accident, has made a fantastic ongoing recovery and will be an honorary captain on Friday night. He will be doing some sort of ceremonial puck drop.

If you're going on Friday, don't forget to get there early and give Dauber some love.

Great news! I hadn't heard anything lately in regards to his recovery and am glad to hear things are doing much better.

I was wondering how he was doing, that is indeed great news.

Baggot had a good article on UW's issues with early departures.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Does anyone know if Schultz is for sure leaving after this year?
Obviously it is assumed that he will with the offense that he adds as a defensemen and his ability to breakout and move the puck down the ice, but has he actually said anything about leaving?

They almost never say anything until they're thanking Coach Eaves in a press conference...

That said, it sure seems like a safe bet, doesn't it?

No he has not said anything. Yes he is leaving. Awesome name.

Looks like the Colombian gangsters finally got their ransom money.

The real question is whether Chuck currently has all of his fingers and/or fingernails.

That is assuming he had them before the gangsters got a hold of him. Just saying...

To not be off topic, Go Badgers! Time to stop DU's unbelievable record at the Kohl Center.

I keep hearing this DU record at the KC and am confused by it...

Teams are 2-2-1 against each other at the Kohl in their last 5 meetings.

By the way, Baggot just reported on twitter that Derek Lee and Jefferson Dahl are both OUT this weekend with concussions. Going to be thin at center this weekend.

My lines this weekend (pure guess):

LaBate-Zengerle-Barnes
Woods-Meuer-Mersch
Navin-Clark-Hartzog
R. Little-Paape-S.Little

Man, Lee not being healthy is just killing them. They desperately need a playmaker on the 2nd line. What a waste of a yr. Has he played too many games just to redshirt?
