Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Great win tonight! the young team really did man up (at least for tonight) and played well (esp. blocking shots). that's the kind of team effort you really love to see.

and wow, NMU defeats Michigan tonight in Marquette. looks like those UP teams are going to be MUCH tougher than most had anticipated

I hope #19 is ok. I missed the first 10-12 mins of the game tonight, apparently that's when the injury occurred?

I didn't catch the number of the guy being hit but I assume it's the same hit we're talking about, but that sure looked like the textbook definition of CFB to me. All he got was a 2 min boarding penalty.

it probably is. I didn't see a replay even. I just know Andringa said McCabe was injured and out of the game but didn't elaborate.

I see you dropped 2 field goals on Vermont. jesus what is that 40 goals in like 5 games thusfar? ;)

They certainly are clicking right now. Let's see if they can keep it up. I was more happy to see them limit Vermont's shots to 17. Those 50 shot games like they had in Duluth take days off my life :)

Few thoughts...

Zengerle was everywhere and flat out dominated at the dot.

Barnes had a strong game and they had a hard time knocking him off the puck.

Peterson made some real nice kick saves but also gave up some awfully fat rebounds. Played well enough tonight.

Springer had a rough game and at times our defense looked a little off kilter, but they got stronger as the game went on.

Best game I can remember Schultz playing. He was flat out dominant and a man among boys. So glad he stayed as he may be one of the best we've seen on the blue line when it's all said and done.

Woods' goal was sweet and what a cool first goal for him. I believe it was Rammer who retrieved the puck for him. Nice heads up thought by the upper classman. Rammer, btw was STEADY as could be.

Meuer is a good agitator and energy guy and had some nice hits. Just needs to limit the penalties.

Thought we really took it to the Sioux for large stretches and we could have easily had 2 or 3 more goals as a few glorious chances were near misses and we actually hit the goalie in the face mask twice.

Really fun game to be at and the Sux fans who were there never really had much to cheer about. Great job younglings!

One other thought...

It's hitting me a little now like it couldn't in the off season how much it sux that we won't be in this conference anymore and play these teams on a regular basis anymore. :(

Last home series against the Sue, right? Do they come to Madison next year?

Very good game tonight. Let's get that sweep.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Got totally outworked tonight but finished the sweep. I guess that helps to even out the dicey OT losses of the first two weeks.

Great sweep and momentum builder for this young team!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

I was shocked at the poor attendance Friday with no competing event against it. Perhaps the sweep and scoring issues @ Tech made a bunch of season ticket holders stay away thinking the sue were going to crush them. But season ticket holders should be hard core fans who would attend even when on paper the match-up is bad for UW.

Just an amazing weekend for UW hockey. Friday was a toe to toe fight, Saturday was highway robbery. I recall last year when the sue came to UW, there were comments that UW was intimidated by the sue and a bit in awe of them. This young group Friday seemed not to be intimidated.

The losses to NM seem less tough because they are proving they are a very good team, playing Meechigan very tough, with a split.

The losses to MT loom a bit bigger because Bemiji just swept them, though that was on the road and neither were blowouts.

Singular loss. I know you're getting old Timothy but we split that series. :)

I, too, was upset at the poor attendance on Friday. (Saturday was understandable and I was one :o). I believe Friday nights have never been filled like Saturday nights even going back to the Coliseum days. The Crease Creatures® continue to amaze me. They are better than ever!

Outside of the usual players who are impressing us, I really like Brendan Woods. Good size and had a couple sick moves!
