Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

I was watching the new show 'Up All Night' last week and the stay at home dad was watching a hockey game with the baby. They flash the game for about 3 seconds and I holler at my wife, THAT'S WISCONSIN! So I rewind it, hit the slow motion and sure enough, it's Wisconsin and Maine. I think it must have been an NCAA game from the '90 season at the Great Dane. I don't recall if Maine has ever come to the Kohl. The memory ain't what it used to be though, but the eyesight still isn't too bad.:)

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

The Double Tree is about a block away from the Kohl, like 2 blocks away from State, and right in the heart of Downtown. 12/14 is pretty far IMO. I used Google maps to find a few other hotels around here. There are actually quite a few. If you search for "Hotels near Madison, WI" you should find a good amount. $119/night at University Inn and it's right on State. Hope that all helps. Have a fun weekend in MadTown if you decide to come! :)

Thanks to everyone for the hotel help in this thread... For whatever reason, the downtown hotel rates were still listed in the $169-$189 for that weekend, so I just took a shot on Priceline.com... Ended up at the Sheraton for $60/night... Doesn't seem like a "Prime" location, but we can make it work... I do assume that because of Menona Bay however, we will be needing a cab or car to get around from there? Maps make it appear that there isn't really a direct route on foot... Either way, looking forward to making it up there in a few weeks

The Sheraton has a shuttle that can get you downtown for the game...you'll need a cab to get back...not a bad option.

Nice!

on a related note -I love the scene in Fargo where the old man is watching the rats vs. Wisconsin and Paul Ranheim had just scored for UW!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Hi to all in the cardinal and white,

I picked up a really nice Badgers jersey in trade as part of a multi-jersey deal, but since I already have a couple Badgers jerseys in my collection I'm going to put this one up for sale - $1495 obo.

Up for sale is the game worn hockey jersey of former University of Wisconsin (WCHA) standout, NCAA Champion, current NHL superstar and Stanley Cup Champion - Adam Burish. This Wisconsin native suited up for his hometown Badgers and brought Bucky a national championship the same year his sister did the same for the Badgers womens hockey program. Following his successful college career Adam moved on to the Chicago Blackhawks organization where he promptly won a Stanley Cup in 2010 before being traded to the Dallas Stars last season.

This jersey was worn during the 2003-04 season and features all sewn twill name (on nameplate), numbers and cresting with the embroidered NCAA tourney patch as well. The jersey has heavy marks on the front and sleeves as well as other various locations and eight team repairs - great overall wear! It is sized as 56 and branded as Adidas (SP manufactured and retagged per UW marketing / endorsement agreement).

This jersey would make a rare addition to any college collection. How often to you see the college jersey of an NCAA Champion, Stanley Cup Champion and NHL superstar hit the market, much less the Wisconsin Badgers which are rare in their own right. Now roll that all into one jersey and that is what you have offered here.

I will consider cash offers or game worn hockey jerseys in trade.

Click on the images for larger versions in a new window.

Stats by hockeydb.com

Thanks for looking.

No way the puck marks on that Burish jersey are real. Played hockey my entire life and I've never seen a jersey with puck marks like that. Did he just lay on the ice and take slappers to the gut for 40 games or something?

I think you forgot the decimal point in your price, so I fixed it for you.

$1500? For Burish?

For ANYONE?

I'd have been interested near a $500 price point, but I'm not even going to enter into a negotiation when we are so far apart to begin with.

http://auctions.cbssports.com/auctiondisplay.cfm/auctionnbr/29072

The link shows a Feb 28, 2011 auction for a Burish UW game worn jersey with the winning bid coming in at $630. Auction had 43 bids.

I would have expected the 05-06 white to have the F4 patch on it. I wonder if it was removed along with the name plate or if this might have been the 04-05 home white mistaken for the 05-06.

In any case, I trust CBSsports more than some random poster on a message board.

I'd pay good money to see anybody slope-headed enough to pay that kind of money, just out of curiosity.

Speaking of slope-headed folks...

Is there ANYONE in North Dakota who doesn't own multiple jerseys?

Of course $1500 is two years ernins up in those parts, so a game worn Toews jersey would probably go for around $5.27 tops.

October 21st coming up quick! :p:D

Burish is one of my all time favorite Badgers, but...

I guess I'm just not a jersey guy or I just don't have enough disposable to toss around.

will anyone even be around to watch hockey in October? I've heard that is the start of deer humping season in wisco...

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Does the construction interfere with one's ability to get from the parking lot behind gate C by the train to the front of the KC? I'm planing to go to the first women's game and gate C is usually not open, so we walk around to the front.

Why are people down on UW? UW didn't get home ice last year and lost a ton of firepower. Losing Smith was totally huge.

I read that Gate A is the only one open for the women's game due to construction. I'd assume that will extend to men's games, too.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Anyone in Milwaukee get the Wisconsin Channel on Time Warner? I never found it last year and a call to them got me nowhere.

Two years? Right?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

I want to know how big of an impact some of the incoming freshman will have on the team this year. specifically Mccabe, woods, and paape.
