You guys...something is happening...

Last night in Cedar Rapids... thank you for everything.its been a great chapter . EDIT: I've heard he will be the new Director of Hockey Operations

Just think what type of goalie Shane would have been if he was 6-6'2 instead of 5'9.

Maybe we could suit up "Baby Face" Connelly; who knows...can he pass for an 18 y/o?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

Noah Segall

He came in with the new staff.

So Segall left in October and Cons is temporarily filling in for the rest of the year. He'll be re-applying to fill the job permanently in the summer, but I might apply and give him a run for his money. Looks like my dream job to me.

Here is Milewski's article with all of the details on the Connelly move:

Also, there was a feature article about the transition of Mike Eaves from Madison to St Olaf. I tend to believe him when he says that there is no ill will towards Barry or UW.

The article doesn't mention why "the other guy" left, but there's this:

I guess the UW program didn't like staying at Super 8's and eating @ KFC for the pre-game meal.

Is there actually hockey this weekend?

4 ****in' weeks..hasn't happened before or at least it's been a while. Thank you for NHL Center Ice and the World Juniors; I even caught some CHL. Speaking of other hockey, when the **** is the NCAA gonna get rid of those chicken **** bird cages?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

That's the rumor.

Turns out it's true! I'm actually going to the game Friday night with the kids. That kinda snuck up on me. Is lot 91 permitted only for the men's games or can any schlub pay the cash to park there? Is there gonna be a band there with school still out?

I believe that 91 has been permitted for hockey in the past, but I haven't been in that area this year so I can't say for sure. I usually park at the city's State Street ramp on Lake Street. $5 to park and a quick 2 block walk to the Kohl.

Based on what I remember from the past, there will be some sort of band there. It might be small, or might be a mix of students and alumni, but there will probably be something. At least I hope there is, the UNO games were such a horrible environment with no band and no students :(

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

I know that I'm a year or so removed, but I used to find street spots for free on Mifflin or Dayton. It got easier and easier as the team got worse and worse. It's a few blocks walk, but when the weather got bad, we would usually just pay for parking.

FWIW, at the season opener this year (and in the past) I parked in lot 45 at the corner of Dayton and Mills for free. The school website says it's only controlled Monday-Friday 7-4:30, and it's not one of the the lots shown on the hockey parking map. It's right along the commuter path too so it's an easy walk the the Kohl.

FYI - Here is a LINK to the UW Transportation calendar. This lists the lots that are restricted during events and the pricing for those lots.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

Given the fact that the US world junior team plays tomorrow, I would assume Kunin doesn't play Friday but will suit up Saturday for UW.

I wouldn't be so sure...Milewski's article this week had a section on that.

from the article said:
It took Badgers captain Luke Kunin 16 shots on goal to score for the first time at the World Junior Championship. That goal, scored Monday in the United States’ 3-2 victory over Switzerland in Toronto, helped send the U.S. into the semifinals.

It also guaranteed Kunin a quick turnaround for this weekend’s Badgers games. The U.S. plays Russia on Wednesday in Montreal and then has a medal-round game on Thursday.

Barring a travel delay, Kunin is expected to be in the Badgers’ lineup on Friday for what would be his eighth game in 12 days. The likelihood for the World Juniors schedule forcing Kunin to miss any time for the Badgers appears to be low.

“He’s not missing a game. In his mind, he’s not,” Granato said. “Whether we make that decision to just tell him he’s not, that’s up to us. I can promise you that he’s not expecting to not play on Friday.”

I'm not sure that I like Coach using the double-negative there, "not expecting to not play". I think that I'll cut him some slack until he gets his degree

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

It could be snowing down here in Atlanta (2" - 4" possible and people are losing their minds) at gametime! Drop the Puck!

I heard Posick on the radio while driving to work this morning. Sounds like Luke would be back in time but the coaches are opting to have him sit.
