Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

Did I hear correctly, last three gold medals for US had Badger captains? Who you got for us next year? Frederic? ;)

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

We lived there for four years (love the place) and are headed there Saturday afternoon. Praying the roads are cleared up around 0500 Sunday.
It could be snowing down here in Atlanta (2" - 4" possible and people are losing their minds) at gametime! Drop the Puck!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

The Badgers should sweep MSU. And hopefully put another nail in the coaching coffin of Tom Anastos.

Temp isn't supposed to rise after getting the snow, so we'll see. I'll hope for the best for you. I'm stocked up on frozen pizza and booze for the weekend. These southerners don't know that THOSE are the staples you really need when you're snowed in.

Berry is starting in goal today, I like it. At this point I have more confidence in him. I hope they let Kunin play, but I doubt they will. They are off next week, so burn Master Luke out and then let him catch up on the rest.

I really hope they leave it up to Kunin. It's his call in the long run.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

Per Baggot, Kunin's exhaustion level is an 11 out of 10 so he will not play tonight.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

Greenway will be out tomorrow with what seemed to be a shoulder injury. Could be out a couple of weeks.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

That was a fun game to go to, love the 3rd tier, first row center ice seats. I haven't had free ice cream in forever since the women stopped the program and then you would get it almost every weekend. It was great that UW jumped on them right away, though the flow was not the best. The 4th line played very well. They had the best spurts of sustained pressure. I was excited to have a band there, it is a must at the games. There was a better than expected student crowd, and they did a great job too. MSU played better as t he game went on, I suspect a 2-1 game tonight. And we got into the RR tracks lot before the money grabbers got there, so I got to park for free! Free ice cream, free parking, a win! Can't beat that.

Even after the Culver's promotion officially ended for the women's team, it didn't actually end -- people have been collecting their free scoop!

Interesting in the ice cream...

Jurusik sure makes me nervous at times, but he played well other than the first goal and the non-goal. Clearly the non-goal was a non-goal, I don't know that Anastos was griping about. A sweep in the b6! Bring on the rodents, after yet another bye week. Err.

Frozen custard Timmy; yes there's a difference, buddy! MY taste rates them; 4 - ice cream, 3 - frozen yogurt, 2 - frozen custard, #1 gelato! ;)

Anyhoo, due to travel I was only able to listen Friday but made it to KC Saturday. Man, this team is SO different than the recent years as promised. I LOVE the slappers from the points and the one-timers from the tops of the circles which I commented on frequently about it missing from cawlege hawkey. I'm told we're the 5th youngest team in the NCAA, I really like our forwards, and their future looks awesome.

I was a little surprised at the Jurusik start Saturday, but he had a longer break than Berry. I saw Blomqvist on the bench. I wonder who will start against the goofs in a couple weeks?

Frozen custard is a kind of ice cream. Even if you examine the labeling laws, it's an arbitrary cutoff in what percentage of egg is allowed that divides the two, rather than the presence of an ingredient at all. There is some more variance allowed when other solids are added. Anyway, the FDA defines "french style ice cream" and "frozen custard" (and "french custard ice cream") as the exact same thing, so yeah, frozen custard is a particular category of ice cream.

Good thing they have off next weekend. Really hope he can be back for the Goofs in two weeks.

Good news from Baggot's 5 takeaways:

Andy Baggot said:
Three: UW associate head coach Mark Osiecki said Sunday that he expects freshman defenseman JD Greenway to be available Jan. 20 and 21 when the Badgers return to action by hosting Minnesota. Greenway suffered an upper-body injury during the second period Friday vs. the Spartans and didn't play Saturday.

My rankings....#1 Ice Cream......#2 Frozen Custard.......#3 Gelato........#4 Frozen Yogurt......

Good news on Greenway, though the D played well without him. He looks a little raw and green at times.

It was nice to see Soleway out on the ice Saturday. I was surprised because Zirbel looked good Friday.

Seamus is becoming a family favorite. Love the name and one creative player.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

Clearly the non-goal was a non-goal, I don't know that Anastos was griping about.

I don't know what replays they may have shown on TV, but the replay in the arena showed the puck slowly moving across the line and then the glove covering it up before it was fully over the line.

It was called a goal on the ice and personally I think that call should have stood.

In what I saw, there was no definitive camera shot that showed when the glove stopped the movement of the puck. For all we know, the puck could have went over the line before it was stopped, or it could have been stopped as soon as the glove obstructs the view of the puck.

Without clear video to show the puck not going over the line, I think the call on the ice should have been left as called. I would have said the same thing if it was called a no-goal...just not enough evidence to overturn the call.

I think Anastos had a solid basis for his complaint, and seeing that he sits on the rules committee, he probably has a better knowledge than most coaches.

I saw somewhere (heard in one of the recaps, maybe?) that the refs indeed got better looks than what we saw in the arena.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey, Vol II: Rebuild, Refresh, and Renew!

Seems like only yesterday DC was a naive Freshman Coastie... and now he's all grown up and quoting FDA Dairy requirements like he's lived here his whole life!

Gets me a little choked up...

And yes, there had to be a view that clearly showed the puck not in or they couldn't have overturned it. Anastos probably argued that they called it in, so they must have seen it in, which doesn't matter one lick. It wasn't in.
