Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. 22 - Let's not have another cheesy thread title... Wait, W
this may be an ignorant question on my part but I'm curious...given the NCAA cut the suspension by 2/3, I think that's a statement in and of itself. but to take this in context (a kid gets a hotel room paid for and mom and dad reimburse the agency later) and compare this situation to what I'd consider far far far more heinous "crimes" such as Reggie Bush receiving $ and/or cars, or Cam Newton's dad shopping him to the highest bidder school, and other transgressions we know of from football or basketball recruiting...does it make sense that the NCAA DIDN'T INITIALLY DETECT THOSE egregious rules violations, yet somehow found this miniscule one?
I've never really waded into these topics but now that this struck the team I care about most...the more I think about it the more I think the NCAA intentionally looks the other way on FB/BB players/coaches/boosters transgressions as they're the $ sports hands down... then if/when they do come around to their "oops, wow looks like Reggie had a nice bank account while in school, where'd that come from?"...they levy fines, but for the most part it's too late, nothing to see here, we'll just slap on a 2-year bowl suspension or something beyond that and move along.
Chuck - (er, Andy!) thanks for the update, it would be nice if NK was in madison 2 years.
and I agree with TimothyA - the other fanbases have been quite generous with their thoughts on the situation
