Let's hope he stays. Even non-Badger fans want to see this kid play.

I have to say I've been very impressed with the support of rival fan bases for Kerdiles. Well done.

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. 22 - Let's not have another cheesy thread title... Wait, W

this may be an ignorant question on my part but I'm curious...given the NCAA cut the suspension by 2/3, I think that's a statement in and of itself. but to take this in context (a kid gets a hotel room paid for and mom and dad reimburse the agency later) and compare this situation to what I'd consider far far far more heinous "crimes" such as Reggie Bush receiving $ and/or cars, or Cam Newton's dad shopping him to the highest bidder school, and other transgressions we know of from football or basketball recruiting...does it make sense that the NCAA DIDN'T INITIALLY DETECT THOSE egregious rules violations, yet somehow found this miniscule one?

I've never really waded into these topics but now that this struck the team I care about most...the more I think about it the more I think the NCAA intentionally looks the other way on FB/BB players/coaches/boosters transgressions as they're the $ sports hands down... then if/when they do come around to their "oops, wow looks like Reggie had a nice bank account while in school, where'd that come from?"...they levy fines, but for the most part it's too late, nothing to see here, we'll just slap on a 2-year bowl suspension or something beyond that and move along.

Chuck - (er, Andy!) thanks for the update, it would be nice if NK was in madison 2 years.

and I agree with TimothyA - the other fanbases have been quite generous with their thoughts on the situation

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. 22 - Let's not have another cheesy thread title... Wait, W

He's a two year guy.

I believe he is able to practice during the suspension. During (admittedly brief) research, it appears a suspended Boise football player was able to practice during a 4 game NCAA suspension.

Where is your proof he is a 2 year guy?????

Timbo, I think it's more anti-USSR, err I mean NCAA postings than wanting to see a Badger kick their asses. :D

Anaheim Ducks Senior VP Dave McNab tells the Wisconsin State Journal that it's their choice, & Nic Kerdiles' choice to stay at Wisconsin.

Doesn't hurt that McNab graduated Wisconsin. :D

You are correct, but it has probably been overstated how much influence the NHL team actually has in this decision. Final call was always on Kerdiles.

Has thing actually been confirmed by Eaves/UW or Nic Kerdiles himself yet? The waiting is killing me, maybe I should have just asked him when I walked by him at the Women's game.

as we have witnessed many times in the past the NHL has alot of influence over these kids and always will. When the NHL wants their prospects they generally bolt town.

Not officially. I'd probably tune into the presser Monday afternoon though.

True, depends on if the NHL team is willing to offer an entry level contract or not under normal circumstances. With the lockout in effect they can't even do that currently.

As expected, Kerdiles announces during today's presser that he's staying at Wisconsin. Very powerful statement as well. We'll have the full transcript when it's available.

I have a ton of respect for this kid. Many college players have bolted just because of a lack of playing time or special teams opportunities as under-classmen in the past. Here is a kid who received what many consider an unfair shake from the NCAA. Instead of taking the easy way out, he is sticking it out and focusing on what he can control. Props to Nic. I hope young players around the country are paying attention to the wonderful example he is setting.

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. 22 - Let's not have another cheesy thread title... Wait, W

Outstanding news! Love this kid, upstanding young man, a real role model for young kids to look up to. When the going got tough, he decided to take the tougher road and stick with his commitment. Denver better be ready at the end of next month, because here is one young man who will be ready to unleash 10 games worth of hell on the WCHA!

In the future of I will refer to this entire ordeal as the Kerdiles Injustice.

I get where you're coming from, but you might want to focus your incident title on the family rep who should have known better.

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. 22 - Let's not have another cheesy thread title... Wait, W

Good news in a way, I guess, but it just shows he's a weanie who is afraid to play with the big boys.

He'll have to play against big boys come February, though, so he better either hit the weights or learn to turtle, gopher-style, cause Rocco will manhandle him.
