Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

All in all, I thought the Badgers did well for most of the game keeping with BC's speed (and BC is a VERY fast team), they just missed far too many shots and didnt give Gudmanson enough help on defense. He played great, but he cant be expected to do it all on his own. Gudmanson is most definetly not a, "soft" goalie. Take any other goalie and put him in that position and the score would have been just as high, if not higher.

No he didn't. He was solid to very good for most of the game, but unfortunately, goalies are judged on spectacular saves and soft goals and goal number two was about as soft, and devastating, as they come.

Goody's not the only one who didn't have their best game of the year last night, but he wasn't great.

This morning... Waking up hung over and remembering that we got shutout made me a sad panda.

Any guesses on when we start hearing about early departures? I'm certain that if NYR win tonight Ryan McD is gone. If not, it slightly increases his chances of staying. I think Stepan stays, Smith is also gone, just depends on how quickly he decides to go. I'm hoping it all happens right away, because I'd like to get all the bad news over in quick succession if possible.

Great season, Badgers. While the hardware isn't there, maybe this is the run that keeps Wisconsin as a top threat every year. I know you guys lose a lot, but I certainly wouldn't bet against Mike Eaves. Good luck next season and maybe this is the beginning of a rivalry.

Sounds good to me. Thank you for your kind words.

you are an idiot, and I'm guessing new to NCAA hockey. Go look up NCAA titles from the inception of the sport to now. The West has been and likely always will be the best. Put BC, UNH, BU and Maine in the WCHA schedule and the smackdowns would open your eyes playing Nodak 4 times, Minnesota, Denver, Wisconsin, St. CLoud, Mankato, UMD... I mean, get real.

Sorry dude.
I don't want to do this to a fan of a non-minnesota based school but for you I have too

if you don't understand that I can't help you

You're right that Rossirules' post was a ridiculous statement. Of course, you're insinuation that BC would be smacked down on a regular basis in the WCHA is equally ridiculous. It is an inarguable fact that BC has been the premier program in the country since the Jerry York era began. And I'd look at BC's performances heads up against the WCHA as some pretty good evidence. A single one goal Wisco win in 2006 is far outweighed by the other results.

If you want to argue WCHA over Hockey East, fine, make the argument. Just don't attempt to treat BC like they couldn't compete at the top of the WCHA. The results clearly speak otherwise.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

I agree quite a bit with solo. Goal #2 was THE back breaker. The Badgers were beginning to amp up, then pop, a back-hander that should never go in. You could see the wind come out of the sails and #3 came soon after. They were still in the game when #4, almost an image of #2, went in.

It was a team effort and I'm not blaming Goody, since I've pulled for him all year, but those are routine and have got to be stopped. I hope the incoming 'tender(s) really push Goody & Bennett.

Bottom line, you can't win if you don't score and we whiffed at a few chances.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Congrats to the team on what really ended up being quite a season, despite the disappointing end. Last night sucked, but my hope/demand going into the season was to make it to Detroit, and that they did. So, yeah, disappointing end, but quite the ride.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Also, congrats on a great season to the Badgers and their fans. It was a great run by a great team. There just was nobody that was stopping the train that was BC this weekend. And thank you for providing Stepan for the WJC. He's one heckuva player. Hope he's okay after last night.

I'm just saying BC, BU, UNH, Maine playing WCHA schedules won't come out like they do in Hockey East. The WCHA is a punishing league.

BC would be a top 5 WCHA school. Where in the top 5 would change annually as it does for UW, Nodak, Denver Rodents etc

also - not to ruffle feathers But I'm not about to say BC is the premier program in the country since Jerry York took over. Gimme a break. I'm just not going to do it. 10-12 years ago michigan fans said the same thing, then Denver, then minnesota, BC is now at the top of the cycle. great program, yes. Premier? I don't concede that.

But what I'd love to see is BC schedule OOC weekends annually a top 4-5 WCHA school and over time see what the results would be

You cant lay that all on him. The defense needs to help him and not let the other team drive to the net like that.

Fine, 99.5 % his fault. The defense DID stop the BC player from driving the net, hence the bad angle backhand shot.

I expect our youth hockey goalies to make that save every time.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Keep thinking that way SOLOV, BC is one of the top three programs in the country and Wisco is not in the circle yet, they might get there but they aren't there now. If they played in the WCHA they would win there are well.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Congratulations to Wisconsin on a great season. Just dropping into your thread to ask if Stepan is OK.. looked like an awkward fall there in the 3rd. The guy's a great player. Sorry if this was answered previously..

How is UW not one of the top programs in the country? Mike Eaves puts great teams together, has coached a national champion team, and UW has won more NCs than BC.........so ***?

Uhhh... I'll oblige the troll.

6>4.

NHL draft picks are heavily in our favor as well. We beat you for the title only 4 years ago. In what UNIVERSE are you a top 3 program over Wisconsin? For that matter, Michigan (9 titles), NoDak (7), Denver (7), MN (5), and BU (5) might have something to say (Go figure, 3 of those teams in addition to WI are in the WCHA).

You DON'T play in the WCHA, you play in a league that is incredibly top-heavy. I would put money on our mid-range finishers against your 3-4th place finishers any day of the week.

Keep drinking that kool-aid. BC played great, and is an upper echelon program, but a few years of success under Jerry York (classy guy, BTW) doesn't make you a top-3 program by any stretch of the imagination.

EDIT: I don't want this to come across as bashing BC - you guys have an amazing team, and thoroughly beat the crap out of us. We'll be back.
