Oh man... I REALLY am fighting the urge to head over to Detroit... The final is going to be epic.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

I thought the Mullet had a great line, "Cinderella's carriage has a broken wheel.". :D

I bet he thought about clever sayings like that a week ago and wrote them down just in case the game went the way it did.

Thanks RIT for beating DU.

Dear Wisconsin Badgers:

Thanks for taking all the suspense out of that one. ;) Do the WCHA proud Saturday.

In 1990 work kept me from going to Detroit with my brother. This year work is keeping me from going to Detroit with my brother. I see a pattern here. Here's to Bucky keeping the similarities going.
1973, 1977, 1981, 1983, 1990, 2006, 2010 ?

Yeah, the problem is that I don't have anyone else to go with me at this time. Not going to front all the $$ myself to drive nearly 1200 mile round trip, plus hotel and ticket.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Nice win, nice effort. UW got them early & didn't let up until the beginning of the 3rd period. Bamm Bamm took a pretty good shot to the thigh/knee. I hope he's OK.

One rant: MCRJr asked me where he should go in Milw to watch the game. I read somewhere that some fans (or somebody?) were going to BWW on Water Street. Since he only lives a few blocks away on the MSOE campus, I told him to take his party there.

When he arrived with his posse at about 3:45, the employees would not change ANY channel on ANY TV because they were watching...get this...****ing golf. BWW would not change any channels until golf was over. MCRJr and his 15 friends left and, I think, went to Fanatics after texting me to ask if there were fans anywhere else. Just wondering if this happened to anybody else? Hey BWW, hockey fans eat & drink more than golf fans and you lost me as a customer in MKE.

If I'm out of line, let me know. I will delete the post.

OMFG....I'm glad I chose not to go there. They've got like 10 screens, so it's beyond effing ludicrous that they'd not show UW hockey....Hey Milwaukee....It's UW (with the W standing for WISCONSIN) hockey for eff's sake.

I just can't believe that. and for golf????

anyway, watched the game at Palomino's where surprisingly a small contingent of Badger faithful showed up and it was pretty fun.

I just hope UW can score one more than BC on Saturday....should be one hell of a tilt

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

I was at the BW3s in Monona and they had the hockey game on half the TV in the place (total of about 10 TVs).
If I had been at a restaurant/bar that refused to put on the hockey game until golf was over, I think I would have been forced to take my business elsewhere because that is BS.
I like golf too, but golf could never, EVER come before hockey.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Having BC end up scoring 7 goals and blowing out Miami is the best thing that could have happened for the Badgers. I was worried that after the relatively easy time UW had with RIT, should the BC/Miami tilt have been the defensive battle low scoring game many thought it would be, the Badgers may get the idea that they only need to step onto the ice to win. But after the Eagles put up 7 on a very highly touted Miami, I have to believe the Badgers' eyes are wide open and know they have to come out on Saturday with the same effort and execution they had today.

Let's Go Red and kick some Eagle butt.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Superb job by UW tonight - looked like men vs boys.

The Championship Game will really have the two best teams.

Denver couldn't beat UW this year, and the Pioneers did beat BC by one, so through my Denver-centric lens, I think UW should win by a goal or so.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

I think the 2 teams will be equal in terms of speed and skill, but the Badgers' depth will give them the edge.

Was thinking the same thing. That BC team scares me. I sincerely hope the Badgers respect them.

The bus is leaving A-Town for Detroit at 5am tomorrow.

Mitchell is making himself some money over the last few weeks. Never seen a guy just turn it on like he has, considering how completely lackluster most of his season has been. There were times where I fully believed he shouldn't be in the lineup.

I was hoping for 3-4 OT game between BC/Miami. When it was 3-0 I began thinking the same as well. BC seems to be hot at the right time of the year.... I had to go upstairs for 3-4 minutes when it was 3-1 and I returned and it was 6-1... I had to look 2nd time at score to make sure I was seeing it correctly.

I believe it will be very close game. If Badgers can avoid defensive lapses, I like to think they will have title #7.

I thought the same... which left me scratching my head how Denver lost to RIT.

Did not watch Denver/RIT game... only know from what I read regarding game and I guess anything can happen once tourny starts... but I thought Denver would show up focused after WCHA tourney.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

This is from NCAA.com:

"Wisconsin thrashes RIT, 8-1:
The Tigers were adamant in the post-game press conference that the score of the game was not indicative of the gap between the teams, with the five-minute major to Mark Cornacchia the yielded two power-play goals making a major difference in the momentum of the game. It's true that the penalties made a difference, but the key to the Badgers' domination of the Tigers was that they knew that RIT was too dangerous to be allowed to hang around. Making sure that the Atlantic Hockey champs didn't get an early goal, and then piling on to go up 4-0 before the Cornacchia penalty was indicative of how prepared the Badgers were."

Really? I thought, and it was VERY evident, that Eaves called off the dogs in the 3rd period. It could have been 2-4 goals worse.

I thought so as well.... SOG is not always indicative how game was played, but in this case I believe so. RIT had 6, 4, 4 SOG by period... possession time was vey lopsided as well. Did appear in 3rd Badgers changed gameplan a bit.

Denver ruined my pool. I had them winning it all. :o
