Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

That's my exact plan as well (although I have some "honey dos" to get out of the way first... looks like I'll be busy tonight getting them out of the way).

I just got an email from the Waukesha County chapter of WAA. Evidently, they're having something at Champps Americana in Brookfield. I have no idea how many people might be there, but it's a suggestion in a world where I have none.

Failing any other ideas, I was probably just going to head to one of the local establishments in teh Falls and enjoy it by myself (unless Mrs. EoDS wanted to stop in after she's done with work).

nice! true UW Puckheads I guess, takin 1/2 days from work to check the game:D

Champs in brookfield isn't far from where I'm staying for the week, but I think I may stick around downtown or east side (champs just gets a tad annoying sometimes, or to me at least).

Right now I'm thinking I may head to BW3 on water as they have a pretty big screen in back IIRC. that or maybe alehouse in 3rd ward if they're willing to put the game on.

drop the puck!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Fanatics in the 3rd Ward of Milwaukee will undoubtedly have the game on and there will be many Badger fans there I would think.

Fanatics? I never heard of the place...not surprising I suppose being in flat land for that past 2 + years.

I have time to check it out though (thanks for the suggestion), as I get off work at 12:30:)

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

I think my wife & I are going to try to meet at the Echo at 4 to watch the game. Hoping we won't be the only one's rocking the red.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

I'll be at the BW3 in Monona once again watching the game. Hopefully there will be a fair amount of Badger fans there again this week. Last time there were at least 20 of us there, so heres hoping.
Either way, I'll be there rocking the cardinal and white and enjoying some beer and wings.
Heres hoping that Bucky sets the clock to midnight on RIT's cinderella story!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Please Badger fans, whatever you do today, don't watch the game in a tall building with windows that open or have access to the roof.

The cinderella story continues today!

GO RIT!!!

1 minute to midnight cinderella:D

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Got me lucky Badger Gear on today and leaving early. I have my DVR set because I may miss the first 10 minutes of the game.

Ready to go to the finals!!:D
DROP THE PUCK!!
GO RED!!!!

I wouldn't be so sure. I'll be rooting for Wisconsin because their fans and program impress me with their passion and class, but the RIT team that ripped through Albany won't be easy for anybody.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 3: Just win, baby!

Here's to hoping for a really good sheet of ice and one of those games that's got you on the edge of your seat the entire time for those unfortunate souls that have to work or couldn't travel today.

Gotta love college hockey.

Oh yeah,

I think the battery on your clock is dead and the minute hand is stopped, the slipper lives on!

GO RIT!!!

2nd that, but from what I heard yesterday, the ice was bad. I just hope team practices, resurfacing, and proper ice temps improve the sheet.

There's a "hockey feel" here in Madison today. 32 degrees, snow covered grass; Gosh **** I love hockey!!

I woke up this morning and saw the snow and thought the same thing. I hope that they can get the humidity inside Ford Field under control, otherwise it's going to be a very slow game... Think third period of the CRHC when after every whistle the whiny Michigan goaltender needed to have something else fixed in his crease... Can't even imagine how poor conditions for the Miami/BC game are going to be if they can't get the climate under control in that huge building.

Let's go RED!

The outside air is a lot less humid here in Detroit today and that should help the ice a lot. All the humidity in the air yesterday was coming into Ford Field and being drawn directly toward the ice and made it a little chippy, but only RIT really seemed to have any complaints about it. I didn't hear anyone from Wisconsin or BC complain at all.

As a Michigan State grad that grew up in Wisconsin (and grew up going to Badger hockey games, I think my first one was when I was 4), I'll be there today and I've got 10 MSU grads who are cheering for Wisconsin tonight. There's a lot of respect in the Detroit area for the Wisconsin hockey program and Mike Eaves. With Eaves being from the Windsor area (right across the river from Detroit) and his son playing for the Red Wings now (nice fight last night with his Dad in town), there is a fondness for Wisconsin around here. Also, lots of talk from the Detroit media about Brendan Smith because he's a Red Wings prospect.

Also, not sure where they'll be sitting, but I can't wait to hear Mike Leckrone and the band tonight. Hopefully they'll get a chance to play most of the pre-game tunes. I've already taught my buddies the power-play cheer (i can't think of a better way to describe it, but I know that's not exactly the best way), so if you see some MSU guys cheering for Wisconsin, you'll know it's us.

Let's Go Red!

Thanks. Nice to hear that not everyone will be rooting for Cinderelmo.

Full disclosure, I rooted for you guys in 07 and your great little goalie although his name escapes me now. Didn't he have severe asthma or something?

I would NEVER root for the Wolverines though.

That would be Jeff Lerg.

BTW Badger fans, 101.5 WIBA-FM will be broadcasting as well as WIBA. That seriously extends the signal.

Jeff Lerg! Guy was amazing at his size. Played the last 10 games of his senior year with a partially torn ACL because he refused to sit the last ten games of his career as a Spartan. In that time period, he went 7-3 with 2 shutouts. You can't have a bigger heart in a smaller package than that guy. He did have asthma issues, but I'm not sure it was considered severe (just tough for a goalie when the air is often very dry in hockey arenas).

You know I'm with you on the Wolverines. Friends don't let friends be Michigan fans. But, it's one of the nice things about the hockey conferences. I can cheer for Wisconsin in hockey almost all year (except for one game Thanksgiving weekend :D ) and never feel like I'm stepping out on my former school.

Also, as for those cheering for the underdogs in RIT, I just can't understand anyone cheering for a team from that conference. These guys didn't beat a single out of conference opponent until the NCAA regional. On top of that, their goalie stands on his head against a very good Denver team (made 39 saves) and then they beat a VERY average team in New Hampshire that spent the whole season having up and down games. Nothing is a given in the NCAA tournament and one game scenario, but if Wisconsin and RIT played 10 times, I'm almost 100% certain Wisconsin wins 8 out of 10 or more.

Spartanboy81......

I'm really sorry Michigan got ripped off in your regional and that your team's not in Detroit.

Other than that, RIT has no control on who the NCAA puts up against them in
the regional. Yeah, they did stink it up in the early part of the sesason and lost to Niagra half way through but when it came time for the rubber to hit the ice, RIT showed how good they are, in or outside of Atlantic Hockey.

DU fans thought their team was pretty good as did the polls. UNH fans, well they weren't suprised by the beat down in Albany but were hopeful after beating Cornell.

And no, this is not a 10 game series, it's only 1 game, winner goes on, loser goes home. Just like it NCAA basketball, it's just the way it is. For some reason, you have to harp on the fact that to prove yourself, you must win 6 out of 10 to be the better team.

I guess you just watched a segment on ESPN with Barry and are carrying on with his poor expertise on college hockey. The past is over my friend, the future is here.

And please god, I hope that I don't have to eat my words at 7pm eastern tonight but will give credit to Wisconsin and wish them well if they can overturn the carriage today and will walk away with a sense of pride in the RIT teams for the way they played this season and in seasons past.

once again

Go TIGERS!

He's not a Wolverine fan.

Enjoy this Tigger, as you won't be here every year. You caught Denver napping, that's all.

ESPN 540 in Milwaukee will have it as well.

Thanks for the props!

You'll have plenty of fans showing you at the game.

If you want to see it ahead of time, I've got a few youtube videos in my most recent posting on the No Alibis blog.
