...leads me to believe while the KC is your second home, you spend your time there in the bathroom instead of watching the game.

Dude, it's just Varsity being Varsity.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

I'll be sure to bring up UND's bad news in your thread the next time it comes out. Thanks, Brian.

I don't care that you posted this here and I have no idea of your motives - informational, discussion starting or to rip. It didn't seem like a rip, but whatever.

Guys, no rip intended. I live in Madison and saw it linked from the Madison.com sports page. I came on here and saw that it hadn't been discussed yet, so I posted it.

Next time I will think twice about linking to an article. ;) :)

That's how I took it. I was more responding to VW's idiocy than to your post.

Live in Madison? You should post you address...

Well, technically I live in Sun Prairie, but close enough. ;)
I live about a block away from the glorious Sun Prairie Ice Arena.

Since you're not being specific, we'll need to carpet bomb. ;)

That rink sucks, btw, as do many of the rinks around here. Used to play men's league there and my son's team plays against SP teams.

Yeah, I currently play men's league there twice a week. I like it since it is so close, but the rink itself is pretty dated and small (ice surface).
Hopefully the funding goes through for the new SP rink near the new HS, but I haven't heard talk about that in awhile.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

I agree. When I saw the score was 6-3 CC (i was out w/friends at the time) I though uh oh, *** is happening. but to hear the 2 late goals is a good sign of character I think...

bring on DU. I can't wait for Saturday

Just a couple more thoughts about the CC series before i put it behind me and look toward this weekend. First of all I didn't put the game on the radio until the 2nd period so to hear us down 4-1 after the 1st and that goody got pulled was shocking to me. then i learned how the goals were scored, 2 in the first 2 min. and 2 in a span of 25 seconds. And the fact that UW carried the play against CC for 5.9 of the 6 Periods of play makes me think we will be ok this weekend vs DU. CC is more of an offensively explosive team then DU. IMO. As far as the goalie situation for this weekend,Ii think Gudmandson on friday and Bennett on SAturday gives us the best chance for 3 or 4 points. I think goody has been fairly good and does make saves that BEnnett probably couldn't get to but i think a rotation the next 2 weeks gives UW the best chance at success and will also give the opponent a different look in net the next night which i feel can be an advantage.

Next time I'm in Sun Prairie and I see a guy with a Sue shirt on, at least I'll be able to put a name to a face before I run you down with my vehicle. ;) But your Sig says you are pedaling past me, so I may not be able to catch you. :( Just kidding, you are definately one of the more thoughtful posters around here, I guess I can spare your life, under the condition you agree it's horribly wrong to insert "sue" in place of "brave" in the anthem.

Hockey talk.....99% of us agree Craig Johnson is no Justin Schultz, but he is a solid yet different type of D than Schultz. They would have to retool one pp unit, which would suck. Let's hope it gets resolved and Schultz can play.

Goaltending...Posick said Goody got hung out to dry way too many times Saturday, I'd like to see him both nights.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I remember over 10 years ago seeing blue prints posted at the rink for the "New Sun Prairie Ice Arena soon to be built". That is no **** my friend.

I'm in Sun Prairie a couple times a week for my job and I see that beautiful new Taj Mahal err I mean high school worth millions of dollars; you'd think somebody would have skimmed a mil off the top and put up a new arena.

I was at both games last weekend in CC. It was a tale of two different Badger teams (and two different Tiger teams). On Friday, UW dominated in all aspects of the game. The Tigers were listless, and although they had a few good scoring chances deftly thwarted by Gudmanson, they never really got anything going and the Badgers maintained possession almost at will.

By no means did Bucky "carry the play" on Saturday - at any point, much less for 2.9 periods of the game. In fact it was CC that carried the play and controlled the puck for most of the game. While Bucky's passes on Friday were crisp and accurate, on Saturday they had all types of problems - unable to carry the puck, missing passes, having the puck skip over their sticks, not beating the Tigers to the puck - they looked as bad on Saturday as they looked good on Friday.

The Badgers had brief moments that they "pulled it together" and made some come back effort goals. Bennett stood tall and played fairly well, although CC's sixth goal was caused by his misplaying the puck. The Badgers are a good team and can compete with anyone, but they need to be the team that played last Friday and not the team that showed up Saturday if they are going to stay with Denver and Duluth and get a high NCAA seed.

Not critical, are you blind! Have you seen the 2nd pairing (him and Goloubef) make a ton of mistakes this year? Who runs the 1st PP unit? While a freshman, Schultz hasn't played like a freshman, and looking at stats solely as a basis of a player's "success" leads me to believe while the KC is your second home, you spend your time there in the bathroom instead of watching the game.

And the Golden Globe for best anti-varsity rant of the season goes to...

This sucks royally... isn't the NCAA minimum GPA like a 1.6? With the tutors and resources athletes have access to... really, you just have to show up. This could be a huge deal for our d corps down the stretch.

I don't care that you posted this here and I have no idea of your motives - informational, discussion starting or to rip. It didn't seem like a rip, but whatever.

I'm just wondering how you found this article and if you troll our news sources looking for material. Is this how the paint thinner consumption was uncovered and also the incident with the deer?

If so, I applaud your dedication. :D

Brian is one of the few opposing posters that I enjoy seeing pop up in a season thread, mainly because its always insightful, or at the very least, a well-thought out jab at one of our... ahem... (can't say red...) auburn headed stepchildren? (Cue Dirty with some smart a s s remark)

Also, I think your use of the smileys has turned into a board-wide trend. Congrats.

Thanks man! :)

Remember the rule of three! It helps get the point across. ;) :)

Good news regarding Schultz posted by Baggot:

UW men's hockey coach Mike Eaves said Tuesday morning that he still hadn't gotten confirmation that all his players had passed academic muster for the spring semester.

But all were present and accounted for at practice Tuesday afternoon after the first day of classes at UW. That includes freshman defenseman Justin Schultz, who was identified by multiple sources as being on the eligibility bubble.

Eaves declined to get into specifics about the individual or the case, but said "a perfect storm happened.''

"We have such a great support staff and we get feedback from professors ... but there are still holes in (the process),'' he said. "The lesson is we'll talk with the academic people (and determine), 'OK, what were the lessons from this episode and how can we can prevent it?' We've already started to talk some. We'll revisit what happened.

"As good as the system we have in place, there's obviously things we can still make better.''

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

Elliott had a big game tonight against the Hawks following his effort last night against the Bruins. He was the player of the game tonight and absolutely robbed Hossa on an open net attempt and then later shut down Kane on the doorstep.

Bad for my Hawks, but maybe Elliott will get it going a little better. He looked really good.

If Eaves would let him shoot on the PP instead of always trying to set up Smith, he'd have a lot more points. He arguably has the hardest slap shot on the team.

If Schultz is out because of academics that is a big blow to the blue line. You trying to tell me that Springer or Johnson are equal in talent to Schultz? That they can "step right in" w/ out the team taking a step down, whether that step is big or small is irrelevant.

Is there an icon for me unlessly shaking my head?

Schulz doesn't make very many mistakes, you're right, but he hasn't been much of a playmaker yet either. He's pretty much the opposite of Smith where he's not a high risk high reward player and instead takes better care of the puck. Fair enough and your point is taken. BTW, I don't spend much time in the bathroom at the KC. It smells like dead badgers in there. :D
