Good win tonight. I didn't get a chance to listen in unfortunately....

despite allowing 4 goals which is a bit disappointing they got the 2 pts to take some advantage of CC and UMD's woes.

I don't know what to say about that Aaron Marvin guy. If the refs don't tell SCSU's admin that he's got a target on him from the refs for the rest of his career in college then I don't know why they're out there. That kid is either too reckless or one of the dirtiest players I've seen at the college level.

Great milestone for Geoffrion and he 100% deserves it. The 100-point mark is a great achievement anywhere but at UW when you look at that list of players who've surpassed 100 points I'm sure he's got to be VERY proud to be in that group now.

Good to get the win tonight. 20 sog in the first period was great to see.
Goody had a bit of trouble playing the puck again tonight, I hope that doesn't become a psychological thing for him. In general he wasn't as great as he usually is this weekend.
Street's goal at the end of the 2nd was great, turned momentum around.

A clever new addition :rolleyes: appears to have been made to the "Sieve" chant, with a "Eff you" being tossed in between "All your fault" and "Sieve".

It may be an unfortunate thing to say, but it is the beginning of the end for Marvin in college really. I've been on record saying that the hit on Chay Genoway was awful, but Marvin showed no previous dirtiness so, if he cleans up his act, it will just be a small blemish on his collegiate hockey career. Now he repeats the act on Geoffrion.

Well... at least Marvin has fans in St. Cloud.

Scuttlebutt also states that the official at the game told Eaves that the face wasn't part of the head. Is that true?

I thought officials were lightweights in terms of knowing the rules and calling them consistently, but perhaps they are lightweights intellectually?

I weighed in on the UW vs SCSU thread about Marvin's hit to Genoway. I posted the youtube clip (or one of the several that are out there)...it's just one person's opinion but that hit to Genoway I feel is one of the ugliest most unnecessary hits I've seen in hockey. Right up there with Claude Lemieux on Draper...

I can't say the kid should be banned but it should be made clear that the refs will always have an eye on him and he has no benefit of the doubt from here forward.

years ago that happened to Sean Hill (rightly) at UW and he chose to leave after his junior season because of it. I think if he returned and even looked an opposing player the wrong way he would've gotten 2mins...

it's tough to say but some guys just don't get it. Aaron Marvin appears to be one them. I just hope he doesn't end someone's career either in college or at some other level of hockey

The Marvin hit on Geoffrion was a penalty and anyone who argues otherwise doesn't know the game or is at the very least completely clueless on how they are instructed to enforce the rule the last few seasons. However, other than wanting the obvious and appropriate minor penalty for contact to the head, I didn't think the hit itself was a huge deal. The result of Geoffrion getting hurt pretty much sucked, but hits like this happen every game. It's just one of those things. If he gets up immediately, we might have grumbled for a call for a couple of seconds during the game and moved on.

Hits to the head should not be taken lightly, especially when Marvin already took out Chay Genoway this season with a hit to the head.

Not that we should be rooting for Minnesota, but actually we should be until we play them. Them moving back into TUC status helps our PWR and gives us a better chance of maintaining our #1 seed status. Good sweep for them this weekend. Meanwhile, CC is down to 17th so is this a young team that ran out of gas or are they just coming back to earth?

Explain to me how Minnesota being a TUC helps us? Maybe if we had swept them, but we split with them.

I don't think it really help you at all. When they dropped out, it didn't affect Wisconsin, St. Cloud, or Denver.

RULE 6 / PLAYING RULES HR-61
Contact to the Head
SECTION 8. A player shall not make contact with an opposing player’s head or neck area in any manner.
PENALTY—Minor or major or disqualification at the discretion of the referee. Contact to the head shall be assessed in front of the infraction (i.e., contact to the head – elbow).
Note: The rules committee instructs officials to use a zero tolerance policy in this area.
