Wisconsin Hockey 24-25 Improving With All Due Haste.

Great for them to hit a bye week on a high. A lot of the game is mental and I hope the 2 wins get them in a good place.

I haven't seen enough of the games to answer this question: Do they have an issue in goal or is the D zone play just that bad?

I'm thinking about attending the Friday Seawolf game. We shall see.

I think a little of both. I think Scarfone isn't making all the stops he should which is why I am unsure why he stopped platooning Saturday's to Gramme. But defense including forwards in front have too many silly turnovers or not covering in the zone.

this Mickey Mouse team Lindenwood would NEVER be able to do this at Denver, Nodak, Minnesota

Not quite the Mickey Mouse team that Lindenwood is, but Arizona State just swept Denver at Magness Arena. I’m 75% positive that Arizona State’s PWR jumped 10-20 spots as a result.

I wouldn’t be upset about losing to Arizona State honestly. They’ve been pretty solid over the last several years and have been in or around the top 15-20 for several years now. They remind me of Omaha.

I can’t comment on how Denver played. Maybe the stats tell a different story than the scores?

If my team was 12-0-0 and got swept by a team that was 4-7-1 coming into the weekend, I would be pissed lol. Expectations rise with success.

Anyways, we are a little ways away from having to worry about that. Anchorage this weekend! Parents are in state for Thanksgiving. First game for the three of us in forever. We had a four game ticket pack for 05-06 and season tickets together from 2006-2008. Since then we have seen maybe 4 games together.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Ooof! Fire Fickell? My god how they’ve fallen.

anyway, let’s go red! Get to 6-8! Sweep
Alaska and get rolling!

His leash has to be pretty short at this point. He might get one more year to resolve it. Pretty embarrassing performance. This is after JJ Watt called them soft against Nebraska. Should have hired Leonard.

Anchorage is 2-9-1. Take care of business.

A win that was not a nail biter! Score crashing the net, on the pp, kill a major, score on a penalty shot, all while missing three key players. Well done lads.

Played really well last night but too many silly defensive zone errors msu will turn into goals next weekend. Clean it up and sweep tonight

I watched about 1/3 of the game tonight. UW really controlled puck possession from what I saw and probably should have won 4-1 or better but…

There is part of me that wonders if the chemistry with the team is still a bit off??

It felt like they did not want to be playing and that showing up was enough to win. They generated enough chances that most teams probably would have won, but this team is great with their ability to find ways to not score in prime opportunities. 2-3 breakaways in overtime as an example. Multiple one timer shots miraculously saved as well.

Energy was off on Saturday. Easy to let down after Friday's game, but you just can't come out flat and not pick it up the entire game. They were very lucky to get the tie scoring with the extra attacker / empty net. Too many times they go for the extra pass or miss the net entirely. Throw it on net, crash, and hope for a juicy rebound. AA goalie was lights out on Saturday and they blocked a ton of shots but that is not an excuse. Power play was atrocious Saturday as well.

This week: Michigan State Fri 12/6 7 pm (B1G+); Sat 12/7 7 pm (BTN)

Next week: Michigan Fri 12/13 5 pm (BTN); Sat 12/14 6 pm (B1G+)
After that: Off until Kwik Trip Holiday Face-off on 12/28 and 12/29 (Ferris St and UConn/Alaska)

Well, it's one step forward, one step back, IMO. Friday had great energy and domination of the game. Saturday there was no energy (while still dominating parts of the game). Penalty kill has been atrocious, but they aren't taking many penalties. Power play was awful on Saturday. We see some improvement, but I am very concerned that MSU will win 2 at the Kohl Center this weekend. I hope they can rise to the occasion.

Man…apropos of nothing to hockey here but Jesus if you look at social media including Bucky’s 5th quarter site the schism amongst football fans and alums is HUGE!!!

it’s a really bad look with evidently some fb alums calling out the state of the program and some parents of current players and recruits asking them to kindly shut it…it’s wild.

Fascinating. I don't want to dive into it myself. I'm torn. He's had 2 recruiting classes and a wide open portal for 2 years to improve the talent and apparently has not; or his staff is so bad that the improved talent is being wasted. I suppose firing Longo bought him another couple years. As we see in hockey with the portal, not everyone you bring in meshes with what you have or want to do and with some guys who left, the grass is not always greener on the other side. The difference is in FB they get spring and summer practices and a long fall official practice period. Hockey gets 2 weeks of official practice, then the games. It's nuts.
