I hate to beat a dead horse, but what in the hell was Granato doing? Does anyone have any inside info on how he did so bad with the talent he had?

Apparently Sauer had a country club like atmosphere.... but that worked for the most part. Maybe it won't come out for a while, but I'd really like to know what Granato was doing wrong.

Me as well. It's almost uncomprehensible to think of this much takent with such a bad performance.

Me three. Maybe no-one will talk but given what we’ve heard from Mike Hastings as to his approach it seems like team culture was a big component that was missing previously. Not to say Hastings was referring to a lack of team culture previously it’s just I don’t think I ever heard TG refer to team culture very often. MH seems to emphasize that heavily.

I honestly can’t wait to watch a Hastings coached Badger team. I bet they make NCAA’s in year 1.

Also…B5Q has a write-up on Stramel. For those of you inclined, please post in comments there so they KNOW Badger hockey fans want more content.

Took the words right outta my mouth. I genuinely feel like TG only cared about getting guys to the NHL. It was a player development program, not a successful NCAA team.

If the culture is changing that much for Stramel to specifically speak to it, then I feel Hastings gets it and understands college hockey and wants to effin win and win big.

That has me pumped!!

Had a couple Wild fans ask me what lines will look like for Wisconsin next year. Here is my best stab at the top 6:

Fitzgerald-Silye-DSP
Whitelaw-Stramel-Lucius

Thoughts?

I can't wait for hockey season!

I don't even know who is on the roster anymore LOL. DSP is going to have a breakout year. I also hope Stange does as well.

I agree if I had to bet I'd wager on making the NCAAs. But tough conference so I guess we'll see. At least we'll be in it.

Parents had season tickets from 70's until 2014ish. I bought tickets for me and the wife (who's never been to a hockey game in her life) first day they went on sale. Super pumped.

I predict kohl with be 70% full toward end of season and be packed for the goofs. Then over next year or two be back to old times.

No idea what lines will be since I didn't watch the wreck much.

Be great if we have one obvious top line with decent second and third and bruiser forth line. Need a Macmurchy in there to shake things up and put the hammer down.

Would also be great of Hastings gets involved in high school and youth hockey in Wisconsin. It could not have helped the development of kids in the state that the Badgers were not good the last decade. I remember skating on the lake as a kid and me and all my buddies wanted to play for the Badgers. That means alot for kids growing up. Except for the Kessels.

In light of Mike Lucas not getting renewed to do the color commentary on FB and MBB in favor of UW Alumni to help the UW give Alumni NIL opportunities, I wonder if a bigger named color commentary person is in the works for the men's hockey on the radio. I really like Ian quite a bit, it would be a bummer if they got rid of him. It will be strange not to hear Lucas on the radio doing commentary for FB and MBB.

I REALLY don’t like hearing this, I just ish Ryder the best of luck.

sounds to me like Granato had a bad culture on the team but I guess we knew that.

this highlights how great it is to have Mike Hastings in as coach. And bolsters what we’ve heard about a culture change within the Men’s team.
