Wisconsin Hockey 23-24: Hastily Making Wisconsin Hockey Great Again

“Running out of gas……..” is what I’ve been thinking over the past month. Hastings is more demanding from an effort standpoint so is it finally catching up with a group that’s not used to being pushed this hard over a full season?? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a group with a new coach start out so hot and then start to fade as the season winds down. Usually it’s the other way around - you would expect to see a group with a new coach as good as Hastings get better as the season progresses.

Whatever happens the rest of the season I’m really proud of what this coaching staff and team have been able to accomplish.

5 shots on goal in the period for the Badgers and they trail 1-0 when De St. Phalle doesn't cover his guy on a rebound goal on the OSU power play. Suddenly the penalty kill is a liability.

Team has been exposed. Get aggressive on D as the opposing team and they cannot generate any offense what so ever.

Absolutely brutal.
They cannot handle being pressured in any zone. OSU goes right at the puck carrier and at best we just dump it and lose possession. This doesn't work against Minnesota or Michigan who can move the puck faster than the man can pressure. We're just too slow to move the puck.

Decent crowd for a Sunday afternoon game 3 - too bad the team is giving such a pathetic effort.

Wonder if someone could Doordash some cocaine to these sleepwalkers...

Better hammer down and dominate in the 3rd. Or they go the way of SE MO St beating the Badgers 43-28, or whatever it was, in the NCAA basketball tourney. Forgettable.

I think Hastings has done an outstanding job this year, but it appears we just keep trying the same old thing against OSU and they know how to neutralize us.

All in all they've exceeded expectations. I just thought they would build into a better team as the season moved on. Instead, they melted down. I do think that other teams got their number the second time around, but that's no different than any other team. You've got to pick it up down the stretch. They just faded away. 2 or 3 seed and if their opponent watches tape from the last few weeks they will dismantle them.

I thought they'd be a tough out and a team no one would want to play in the tournament. Now there isn't a team worthy of a tournament bid that wouldn't love to draw the Badgers.

Clearly Rohlik knows what he is doing and can adapt. Dissappointing that Bucky could not. McClellan gave up 6 goals over 3 games. Certainly not on him.

They just have zero offensive zone production. Zero.

Now going to be at most a 3 seed going into the tourney...with 2 weeks off.
