Wisconsin Hockey 23-24: Hastily Making Wisconsin Hockey Great Again

Really solid game. Offense felt hard to come by, but they pull out the 3-0 win! I actually thought the 4th line was really good. Stramel generating at least four chances through shots/passes. Really encouraging for me as a Wild fan and love to see it as a Badger fan.

First period was not the best, but they survived and got better as the game went on. They absolutely need to figure out how to score on that PowerPlay. They let UAA hang around last week and it cost them. They dodged allowing OSU would hang around in the this game. McClellan is fantastic. I think they're skating too much with the puck and not passing it quickly enough.

Good to see that this version of Bucky can win games when not playing their best and can rely on some great play between the pipes. Many of Granato's teams folded up if the offense wasn't flowing and it affected their play on the defensive end.

Yeah it made their bad defensive play even worse than normal.

The top line for the Badgers last night was very noticeable. It seemed like every shift they played they we're creating good looks offensively.

Missed last night (at Volleyball) but will be there tonight.

Nice to see them getting back on track after the hiccups.

Crazy Badger sports weekend with women and hoops today also.

Let's go!!!!

Been driving most of the evening and just got home. Listening to Posick and Perrin on another successful evening of hockey.
Posick mentioned this coming Friday night PB and Howie will be on play by play! Now that's a throwback jersey!

That was a really fun one to be in attendance :)

It was fun to watch in the living room lol.

Pretty weak sauce that the refs wimped out on getting that offsides called denying us of another shutout. That one ref was really really tick tacky. I didn't think the penalty shot call was a good one. He made calls that they don't even call for the women's games.

Very different "bored by the third period" experience than the past several seasons.

That was an ass-kicking.

Decent crowd and nice to have Howie and a bunch of the goalies back although I wonder how many in the crowd even know who most of those guys are. Many should have gotten louder ovations considering they backstopped Nattys.

When did they put the NHL jerseys up around the first level? I don't recall seeing those before but we generally have seats in the 200s so are not down there. In 119 last night. Nice touch and even guys who only got a cup of coffee in the "show" are featured.

Quibble of the night... crowd trying to do the 1-2-3-4-5 WE WANT MORE thing and the morons in charge of fan engagement are trying to make us care that a Jonas Brothers song won some vote for a 30 second clip to be played. Just get out of the way - we know how to do this.

I have to say it seems like the canned stuff is less than it was a few years back.

As per TM: "The Badgers took over second place in the Big Ten — one point behind leader Michigan State — and reached 18 points one third of the way through the 24-game league schedule. They finished in last place with 18 points last season."

Let that sink in. I dont like digging up graves, but how much talent was wasted through bad coaching? Goodness.

Friday night was not well played until the third period, but they found a way to win. OSU is bad. They have no scorers. Saturday they turned it on which is fantastic. Stats to come later.

This week with Penn State coming into town, we get to see Aiden Fink and Noah Grannon. Two recruits that were Granato / Oz recruits. Fink is leading them in points as a freshman and Grannon is out playing senior Souliere in GAA and Save %.

I dislike Gadowsky and PSU, so I am hopeful for a sweep.

How many goalie alumni were in this past weekend? Was Jim Carey or CUJO in town?

I despise ped state so i’m hoping for a sweep and really looking forward to hearing PB and Howie calm the game. I’ll make sure to have a dollar ready to put on my tv to “buy a goal” if necessary!

Thanks. I recognize Elliott, Derksen and Connelly but beyond that I’m at a loss.

Dauber was there and I feel like I remember Melanson too. Couldn't make out the others beyond those that you mentioned.

The audio on the PA seems really muddy this year and a little low on the volume.

No Carey, Richter, or CuJo. I do t think I saw Behrend either.

They did such a poor job introducing them, you only noticed them on the ice when they were leaving and had to shoehorn in an introduction after the game started in the corner by the boards.

And no acknowledgment of who was there online or anywhere that I can find, so I couldn’t say for sure who was there other than the more recent ones that I recognized. Maybe on FB or one of the other socials that I don’t use.

Cons and Elliott for sure. Melanson and Dauber and I think Derkson. I want to say one of the old guys was Wayne Thomas, but I’m not sure.
