Wisconsin Hockey 23-24: Hastily Making Wisconsin Hockey Great Again

But, I am sorry, Lucas was terrible. The broadcast is much better with him gone and Tauscher in there with Lepay.

I love Mark Tauscher - the Wilde and Tausch radio show is pure gold - but there's a lot of room for improvement. Tausch feels like he needs to talk for 15 seconds between every play and that is hard to listen to over a three hour broadcast. I was pretty much neutral on Lucas - LePay is the star of all Badger radio broadcasts, one of the very best in the business.

I hope to god that Tausch doesn't do basketball - that would be a disaster.

Sorry, been on hiatus with fam and such...a few thoughts:

1) Huh...thought this was a hockey board...I say we keep it at that. Football opinions should be posted on a football board lol

2) We need a full breakdown of roster turnover. Im curious to see numbers. I also feel they will be mich improved but the NC still sucks in my opinion AND they KNOW how much NC record factors into PW going into tourney. Augustana and Lindenwood do absolitely nothing for the boys.

3) Glad to see Lucas go. He incessantly talked over people on his radio show and his voice was just annoying to me. LePay commands the booth. He probably was provided an options on how he went out and he chose to not go out gracefully. If a "jock" works better (i.e. Tausch), so be it.

I think he has a right to *****. He was calling hockey games then moved to football and basketball and we’re talking 30+ years. He has a right to be given a choice to go out on his terms.

I humbly don't agree with this. Sometimes people overstay their abilities and it's time to move on. Just like old guy on a football roster or hockey roster, or coach was out of touch with reality despite some great past. He does however, have every right to be ticked off as anybody who gets fired has the right to be ticked off. Tauscher simply doing a better job. On the positive side now he can actually write what he wants to write opinion wise and not be bound to rah rah ran / spin for UW in his writing or even have spoken words which he had to do while employed for them. I'd love to know what he really felt about the Chryst firing just like I would truly love to know how Brian Posick really felt about TGs regime at the end.

Roster wise, I think we have 8 freshman (most if not all where TG recruits), 4 transfers all forwards: (David Silye jr MnSt, Christian Fitzgerald RSFR MnSt, Tyson Dyck RSFR UMass, Simon Tassy RSFR MnSt) and 14 players from last year.

Transfers out were Brayden Morrison, Shay Donovan, Zac Urdahl, Caden Brown, Ryder Donovan, Liam Malquist. Most were before the end of the season IIRC.

The 12 players bolded were never coached by TG, and 14 were. That's a great starting point for expunging the bad habits of the past and starting fresh.

Well, that’s 12 players that maybe know how to defend. It’s not much but it’s a start.

It's almost half the team turned over in 5 months! I had no idea the roster would turn that quickly. I'm sure the lads who are holdovers are coachable. They want to succeed as a team and individuals, some of their futures depend on it.

We have Captains.....Vorlicky, with A's to MDSph and Silye.

The Holiday faceoff is now a 3 year rolling contract unless 1 side opts out.

Where did you see that about the Holiday faceoff. We are going again this year and has been fun each year.

Hoping for a big year from Stramel. It’s exciting when my favorite pro team picks a player on the team. Hopefully it goes better than the Kunin pick.

Heartbreaking news from MHKY Twitter (can’t post link for some reason):

We have heavy hearts after learning of the passing of Nic Kerdiles (2012-14) in an accident early this morning in Tennessee…
