Wisconsin Hockey 20-21 Give Us A Reason To Believe

Pretty amazing that the high school team won. Outshot 43-9 and up 3-2 after 2. Vast stretches where PSU controlled play and always seemed to get to the puck first.

in the long run that’s what will win them a ton of games.

for Wisconsin I don’t know what to say. This looked like a late-era Sauer team that got lucky for a night.

I simply don't recall a men's game where you get outshot by a 2 to 1 ratio and outscore them by a 2 to 1 ratio. At the start of the second period UW had settled down, but it unraveled. They need to play a bit slower and more deliberately. They were just trying to move the puck too fast.

How was the Dhougie goal not a goal? It was clearly going in when the goalie fell over and played dead, it was almost instantaneous. If anything he gets the goal and then a penalty.

Stange has a murderous shot, oh my. Linus has insane wheels. WOW.

The 2nd PSU goal was BAD D zone coverage including Inamoto and Emberson, they were totally disjointed there, off a faceoff nonetheless. And where were the D on the first goal when Gorniac puked the puck up at the blue line? At least he scored one to balance it out.

TG's dye job is bad. Let the grey flow.

Anyone thing we will see Rowe tonight in net? Figure with all the game this close together may be good time to give Rob a breather. . .

After giving up 600 shots you want to take the guy that held onto your win out for the second game? I'm sure he wants to be in there, too, so I'd be shocked if someone else gets the start.

I say leave the Robster in the net. After a lot of goaltending drama over the last 2-3 years, I want no drama.

So weird to have a game on a Monday and Tuesday (both starting at 5:00.) Nice that they got good results, but such a strange season already.

Well, I think we all expected psu to come out like a house of fire and take it to UW. That did not happen. psu is not what they were last year, but I'll take a shocking win yesterday and woodshed win tight. Payback is a you-know-what.

The Robster was stellar. The 49 save game he had a few big ones, but psu's shot quality is not that great, it's just a volume thing. He is very quick.
Linus needs to play more of the time in high gear. When he is in high gear he's exceptional.
Stange is not playing like a Fr.
Matty DSP isn't 4th line material either, but it's working where he is at. He made quite a few deft passes today. At least he see's time on the 2nd pp.
BC has been quite the revaluation on the top line.
Inamoto and Emberson are the worst D pair LOL. Fell asleep at the wheel again tonight.
Peltonen needs to be singled out for solid play. Here's a guy who is playing better than Miller or Kalynuk played last year and he was basically an afterthought recruit. The other 3 guys are also playing well.
Achan needs to be one of the guys who gets bumped down the line-up when TPB gets back (and Holloway). He's generating few chances and is in the box too much.

Faceoffs have been better this year. Special teams are better. D play is better. Love the scoring depth. Some reasons to believe at the moment.

How did the team look? Did they control/posess the puck more than last night?

Yes, they looked much better, skated better, controlled the puck. PSU got like half as many shots as Monday.

I will still single out Cole for his lack of interest / intensity on D. He was at the point when the D went low in the offensive zone and he recognized the break out on PSU and was in good position. Puck goes behind our net. He stood around Beydoun and watched the puck as a third PSU attacker came in front and Cole just watched him score. All he needed to do was D that guy up in front and not puck watch and that is not a goal. In a tight game that might have cost us.

Other than that, I have little to complain about. Team chemistry seems a ton better and we are way better in our defensive zone.

I agree they were much better tonight in many areas of the game, moving their feet and passing the puck to point out a couple. There are afew things that still bother me. Where Cole is playing on the PP is just confusing, the unwillingness to get in the dirty areas and work for the puck, being careless with the puck and im not sure if I remember seeing them cycle the puck this year retaining possession. They also tend to get caught puck watching from time to time. That being said it is a much better product taking the ice this year but there is plenty of room for improvement.

Great recap, thank you!

trued to listen on iheart but evidently one has to pay now to listen in via a radio app. Ugh

They changed that this year. So you need to get the Wisconsin Game Day app and go down to Hockey and find the primary or alternate stream for the listen live.

100% correct. Drives me nuts watching the lazy play
