Wisconsin Hockey 20-21 Give Us A Reason To Believe

I agree with the sentiment here. They looked like a much more united team and were passing a great deal better than the last few years. That power play goal in the second was a thing of beauty.

Beydoun really looked sharp and took great angles and was very impressive with his puck control. We'll see if things continue to look as good tonight.

Apparently NCAA eligibility doesn’t count this year, so Beydoun can be a graduate student again next?!...

Played a little sloppier tonight but a good weekend overall. Who would have picked Brock to score before Cole this season?!

I'll be interested to see this year how they react when things go poorly - if they crumble like they have the past couple of years giving up goals in bunches and start taking meathead penalties. I remain somewhat concerned that those tendencies were and still are a reflection of the coaching staff - which seems far more "inspirational"/let's get fired up/pep talk types than calm, rational, actual teaching/look to improve types.

Well, they puked up the lead twice Saturday and won so I like that.

All the lines created chances.

It's going to suck missing Holloway for an extended period of time. He is a difference maker. The goal Saturday was a snipe for the ages. You just don't see that kind of goal at the men's college level (the Badger women seem to have a couple of those a year).

I am super bummed to have missed the Friday game, my daughter overloaded the dvr and killed the program's recording.....

The 5 forwards power play looked really good.

Yes the Holloway snipe was something else. Him getting the call early from the Canadian WJ is complete and utter covid BS. It's only for that reason and extremely frustrating to lose what I consider our best forward.

Beydoun looked serviceable. He was aggressive in coming out and cutting down the angles and looked quick to me. I was pleased.

I will start weekly season stat updates after more teams start play this fall. Only Michigan, ASU, Notre Dame and UW have played so far.

Our D looked much better. Amazing what can be done when you don't have to have one defensemen covering for another trying to score all the time.

TDM said they thought about going with Rowe for the 2nd game, but was hard to ignore a shut out. Personally I like to hitch the net 1 one player and ride him the whole time. I hate goalie mind games. That being said, I'm not opposed to seeing Rowe get some looks as well.

I've got a question. Why did Sean Dhooghe transfer to ASU?

I am sure we will never know 100% why, but the assumption is he was in the dog house with the coaches and he was healthy scratch near the end of the season. I believe it is related to that. Also Mick Messner transferred and he didn't get a lot of playing time last year. Coincidentally, if I remember correctly, they were roommates.

There was obviously some bad apples in either the seniors, transfers, or the early departures as they seemed to be more team orientated the first two games this past weekend.

I was quite surprised. Given the great hockey culture you guys have I always assumed once a Badger, always a Badger. That's why I'm afraid Rhols may leave someday for your program.
I remember when we hosted you last season in the first round of the tournament neither he or his brother were playing. I saw him during one of the intermissions and told him that as a hockey fan I always enjoyed the energy and intensity he brought to the ice. He seemed a nice young man and appreciated hearing that.

Nice 2-0 win tonight. Do we have a goalie this year. :)

Had one last year. Garbage coach just kept throwing him under the bus because couldn’t singlehandedly cover for the dumpster fire defense in front of him.

Defense looks okay so far. But we also saw a sweep of UMD early last season and look how that turned out.
