Wisconsin Hockey 20-21 Give Us A Reason To Believe

The only thing I can think of on Friday is that the teams said a 3pm (CST) start gives them enough rest heading into a 1:30pm (cST) nationally televised start on Friday and assuming BTN will televise the Mich/MN game after the 3pm Badgers game bc of the implications. if they did a late start on Fri, no way they would play in a 3pm game on Sat. just no fun that the fri start precludes a lot of people from tuning in. BTN saying "only sat matters, you peasants."

I don't think it's big deal to play at 5 on day one and 1:30 on day two. It's the same for both teams so it's fair.

Well the 20 win regular season has slipped out of their hands, but as TDM pointed out, this has been a very epic run the lads. It's been a LONG time since we've had the pleasure of watching players of CC and Holloway's stature. One must give credit to the staff for somehow getting the Caufield boys out of the clutches of OSU and seeing Holloway as they did when they did. Holloway is just so exciting to watch, every time the puck is on his stick great things can happen.

That's what I figured too. They wanted more time between Friday's and Saturday's game.

There's a couple great long interviews with Cam and Robbie at Madison.com. Really great stuff to listen to, lots in interesting insights. One thing that stuck out to me was that Cam has only had a goalie coach since he was 15, so he's trying to come to grips with using his athleticism less and technique more.

The stream audio very well may be the mass comms Mich State students lol. It is pretty bad. With my Yankee ingenuity, I have the stream lined up with the BP Badger radio feed...a lot better.

The boys came to play today. They have been super aggressive...couple times where I think they gave MSU too much time and space. Gotta keep the heat on in the 3rd and have a good PK out of the gate!

That is genius! Just did the same.

Well, things certainly got interesting. The chance to win a conference for the first time in 21 years has to be in their heads tonight.

I might need to mute the stream... Yeesh

I muted the stream and did the play by play myself for the whole 2nd period and part of the first. It was fun but that is a lot of work. My daughter just love it, especially when I put the mic in front of her for some color commentary....Maddy, what did you think of that CC goal on the pp? "great shot" she said, LOL. She did way better than the girl on the feed. She was not good. At all.

Very solid effort. Great to see Baker get one, he's had so many great chances the last month or so he sure deserved some success. Robbie was outstanding. LaMaster played a few shifts on D, I wonder how long Tyler will be out for.

CC gets all he hype, but Holloway is a way better player than CC is right now. It seems like the puck is always his stick and his line is always generating pressure. The TPB line really struggled to get anything going yesterday. They were the 4th best line.

We'll have the boys on mute this afternoon and the girls on the radio at the same time. HUGE day of hockey. Let's go RED! x 2

Firing up the grill to fix my helping of crow. After last year I was very critical of Cole and wanted him to go. He turned things around and upped his game. As much as his scoring drove the team, his defensive improvement was most impressive. Also, I'll take a Kehrer over Miller or Kalynuk every day of the week. That guy is really good. Peltonen really grew throughout the year. No letting up now. Win 'em all.

AMEN! Less offense, but wayyyy more positive impact on the game.

Kehrer and Peltonen > Miller and Kalynuk, for sure.

Getting bye was huge, they basically ran 4 D all weekend, hopefully Vorlicky and or Inamoto can play next weekend.

The GWG was insane. Holloway with a crazy intercept and passed falling down/spinning right to CC's sweet spot for the win.

Both goalies played tremendous hockey.

B16 Hockey Title baby! Snatching the title from the feeble jaws of the rodents. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gophers don't have jaws, just little buck teeth growing right out of their lips.

Good for you, Bucky. Just make sure Caufield has the flu (non-covid) if UW meets up with UND in the tourney.

I think the difference between last year and this year had a lot of differences. Last year all the hype was around the high end talent coming in and present ("Look at how many draft picks the Badgers have!"). Funny thing is they didn't play selfless team hockey and it showed, especially the blue liners. Peltonen, Kehrer, Inamoto, Vorlicky, and co all played excellent D awareness and got the puck to the forwards as quickly as possible to neutral ice, as opposed to Kalynuk/Miller who were consistently trying to carry the puck into the offensive zone then dump it to a F or wait for a passback so they could ahoot it. It really was a recipe for disaster. And as much as I liked having Turcotte at C, he was hurt so much that it hirt any kind of cohesiveness on the first line. He probably should have gone pro right away. It hampered the development of TPB and Weissbach from developing IMHO.

I was really frustrated with the D and Granato last year and gpt caight up in the hype. Here is hoping they have the formula now. It sure looks like they do. Just imagine 10+ more games including the BTN playoffs, what this team could have done. But I love it so far!

A+ post.

The goaltending is better also, but is it better due to the new players or is it better due to the cohesiveness and selflessness of the players in front of them?
