Wisconsin Hockey 20-21 Give Us A Reason To Believe

Your team is on a roll. The second half of the season is getting very interesting!......Unfortunately not so much for the Devils, but still beats no hockey. Maybe I've got a low expectation from Covid fatigue.

Yes, he's got "IT". Too bad we can't see him play for the full 36ish game season, he could by a Hobey guy.

MSU is not afraid to be physical and knock people to the ice, that is for sure. Baker really took it upon himself to do his part last night physically, he was a wrecking ball out there. They love to interfere along the boards. The only interference call was on Kehrer last night.

I don't think MSU really had a golden opportunity at all last night.

To pull a page out of Solo's playbook, yesterday's win is worthless if they don't win tonight. MSU will play better and UW won't get 2 luck luck goals, the pp won't go 2/3; it will be a nail biter tonight. I do expect the sog total to still be lopsided.

Team seems to be a different animal with him on the ice: 7-2-0 with, 3-5-0 without.

I hope he sticks around next year and then leaves once the season ends.

MSU seems like one of those "meh" Mike Eaves teams. They will need solid defense to win because their offense isn't the best. Also, lost their 1C last night. Hope he is okay.

Muller is our 1C only because our regular 1C Combs is banged up and unavailable. According to Coach Cole, Muller got a cut but should be all right. But you aren't wrong in your general assessment.

Losing your top 6 centers is tough. The badgers got to see what that was like when Pelton-Byce was injured and Holloway was gone for the WJC. Pretty brutal stretch. Will Muller be able to play tonight with the cut?

Well, that was a pants pooper game until the PP saved the day. That was just the kind of game I thought it would be. MSU played better, UW played pretty well, but was tied deep into the 3rd period. I was thinking "here we go again"....somehow UW was not going to get the full points they needed on the weekend and more importantly 2 clear wins, but a dumb penalty by MSU saved the day.

Rowe was really good, tested more than the Robster was the night before. The CC PPG goal was a ridiculous shot. How anyone can shoot that hard and so accurately is just bananas. He also made a very deft stick check play in the d zone in the 3rd period on a good looking chance by MSU.

My boy Kehrer was on the ice for the MSU goal. He should have closed on the guy, he had support in the middle. He was too passive there.

I have been critical of the 5 F pp, but it seems like they have the bugs worked out LOL. MS alluded to the fact that they have been back together practicing/playing is letting them gel.

These next 4 games are crucial before their last 6 games which are all teams under them in the standings. Barebones they need to split the next 4 to get to 13-9, then go 5-1 to finish the year. That gets them to 18-10. I guess I wouldn't complain about 17-11, since they are 3-5 w/o Holloway in the lineup. If this team is going to piss with the big dogs, they need to do more than split with the UM's.

Does this weekend give us a reason to believe? To me, not yet. That game 2 performance against PSU has left a bitter taste in my mouth and with the talent on UW right now, sweeping MSU is to be expected.

Astute observations. I love to think ahead and I think it's crucial that CC or Dylan return next season, though unlikely. And then the elephant in the room is will UW allow any Sr's to return next year? Having TPB come back would be awesome.

I should also point out that Baker was a beast this last weekend as well. He was everywhere it seemed. No points to show for it, but clearly leading by example.

I’m right there with you on the lack of interest. It’s covid related in a small way for me in that I can’t attend a game or two but much more so it’s the inept coaching and some prima Donna players who seem to think there are 5 pucks out there. The reality that this team cannot win an NCAA title nor are they even close to that really wears me down.

Program is a joke. Need to fire Granato and then maybe interest will return a year or two after Rohlik rights the ship.

I don't think I have said anything positive on this thread in years. Sorry.. don't even know why I come here i don't watch the games anymore.

I don't even even blame Granato anymore. He's doing his best. Its just not good. I blame Alvarez.

Edit: I will, however, never miss a game of UW Volleyball. Those girls are freaking amazing and exciting to watch

I hear ya.

mat this point I wouldn’t hire Rohlik either. OSU is down and he hasn’t made much post-season noise over the years.

time to think outside of that box and bring in an innovator with a good recruiter like Johnson and Stanbrook and let badger connections take a back seat for a minute.

I agree, though I am reasonably excited to see how this season plays out. This weekend will tell us a lot.

What is really blowing my mind is that K'Andre Miller is off to a great start with my Ranga's. First off I never thought he'd make the team right out of camp, if ever based on what we saw the last few years. In 8 games he's +7. Last year he was -7 over 36 games. What could account for such a startling turn around? System? Coaches? Playing partner? Attitude? Maturity?

I ended up a a Twitter thread about the Rangers and some people think Miller is a bum, the others love him. Typical deal for anything online, right?

The Bucks will be going to 25% capacity for fans in February! There is a sliver of hope for the people's republic of Madison events, eh?

Agree 100% - go outside the Badger wing......But it doesn't really matter what we think as Tony is going nowhere anytime soon.....

And since we are stuck with TG, turn on the tube or open up the browser and watch the games. They have been playing sound team D (except for game 2 against the rodents), the goaltending has been very very good and you can watch a lot of high flying top end F talent. Don't let the disappointment of the past and a agreed upon lack of confidence in the coaching staff deprive you of enjoying watching the game that you love being played by the university you love.

Speaking of goaltending, I think they should play both this weekend just like last weekend. Usually I HATE goaltending tandems/rotations, but they both are playing at a level where I trust both in big games. It's truly exciting to think Rowe has 3-4 more years @ UW. We all were a little unsure based on his stats from the USHL how he was going to play (and I think TG was too hence getting Robbie), but he has been playing very well.

The weapons TG has would make Aaron Rodgers jealous. You guys should be top 5 at worst.

Welcome aboard, Ranger. This wagon is getting full.

By the way, did anybody else see the reverse-retro sweaters for the Wild? They were sporting them the other night against my Avalanche, and being an old NorthStars fan, I was sporting something as well.

They were 3-5 with Holloway gone forever to the Canadian National camp, CC was gone for 6 of those games and TPB missed about 8 in the same timespan due to injury. Those are 3 of the top 4 forwards. They don't lose to ASU with those guys playing and probably win game 1 @ OSU as well, a game they almost won with those guys all gone and guys off for C19. Just flipping the ASU games alone gets them to 13-5, I'd guess ranked 8 or so. The next 4 games will tell the tale of this team.
