Wisconsin Hockey 20-21 Give Us A Reason To Believe

I guess you could say they took care of business last night against an under-manned ASU team. Not much good info on the team can be gleaned from a game like that other than Rowe did great considering the lack of action he had, it's always awesome to have the goalie get the shutout.

I will say that I think that college hockey's depth right now is tremendous and the gap between the 1 and the 16 seed is very narrow.

Could not agree with you more. It is so tight, little mistakes make a huge difference. Yet the game is so fast, and the players are so good its almost a roll of the dice. One strong play or a hot goalie can really move a team to the top. No idea how they will choose the teams for the tourney. Dislike the rankings, as so much this year goes on reputation. Yet it is what is is, glad to see the kids playing. While I am from Mn, happy to see Wisco playing better......its important to the game.

What an absolute dumba55 penalty by Achan.

That is the understatement of the year. As he was FLYING over there from across the ice, he had plenty of time to think, to make the correct decision. It was a calculated, intentional act of complete disregard for your team and worse yet the safety of your opponent. He can live on the pine for the rest of the season as far as I'm concerned. And this is a pattern. His whole career he has been a dumb penalty machine.

I did like the first series better!........But I guess we can say if a team is down 5 or so players there is a good chance they will be swept.

Ped St. coming up. They are little 3-1 run just like UW. If UW is going to give us a reason to believe winning 3 out of the next 4 is a must. MSU at home after Ped St., they are nothing to be afraid of. With the talent level, UW ought to really for 4-0 in the next 4.

I hate Holloway's line. Give him some talent to work with. I'd love to see Stange and MDSP with him. MDSP has some creativity and a proven scorer/setup guy, let him showcase those talents.

It's even worse that the player he did it to is someone he knows personally (Sean Dhooghe)... I like that he places with a bit of an edge, but man there is difference between playing with an edge and just being stupid. Got a 1 game suspension and honestly I think it should have been at least 2 games. It's been awhile since I've seen such a careless hit.

He knew who he was hitting. I guarantee it.

I H8 Ped St8. I'm impressed so far with the 2nd half.

I can't wait for the men to get back to the Kohl. Whoever bought that lame goal horn shouldn't have a job. :-) :D

It was totally a head hunt shot, elbow to head. If he just de-pucks Sean, they don't score there. Of course TG is in love with that style of play. There's no room for that crap in the game. It's very bad that Sean is out of the line-up for ASU this weekend due to the play. I like the idea of Gorniac playing in his place. He's another guy who just need a chance to play with the big dogs to shine. He was great with Stange in the OSU series.

I think there was WAY too much positivity oozing from TDM and TG about last night's win. Yes, Rowe continues to play fantastic. Yes the special teams won the game for UW, which is great. Yes they were not leaky in the D zone, even though they were in it for way too much time. 5 on 5 they were not good for 75% of that time. The first half of the 1st and 2nd periods and all of the 3rd period they were pinned in their own zone, hence the 45 SOG. It's a miracle PSU didn't score at least 1 more goal on a screened shot (I don't think Rowe saw the shot that went in), the traffic in front of the net was like an airport on Christmas Eve. It was ridiculous. The whole 3rd period it was hang on for dear life time. It was very frustrating to watch.

The all 5 F pp is not good even though they scored a couple. They need to shoot the freaking puck. That one pp they didn't get a single shot off and they were in the O zone for most of it. There was another where they couldn't get the puck into the O zone. Get the puck on net, deflect, screen and pounce on rebounds. The 5 on 3 effort wasn't good. They relay too much on pure talent and not enough on using puck movement to break down the box for a quality chance, which should be kinda easy with that talent on the ice.

Nice to see MdSP get his first goal. I love Holloway, but he had the puck in his stick a lot and just couldn't get anything done positively in the O zone. Maybe it was just a bad night. He did make a couple excellent plays in the D zone, which is awesome to see. Linus seemed neutralized in transaction, but the transition game was not good for large chunks of the game.

Tonight is a critical game. I can't imagine PSU playing much better than they did, so UW is going to have to play a lot better to sweep. If they play like they did last night and special teams doesn't bail them out, they will lose 3-0 if Cam or Robbie plays lights out. Puck luck was completely on UW's side last night.

Tim, you are right on. That was one ugly win. To be fair they would have lost a game like that last year.
