Bendi-Grotting-Dolan is a line that I like. They've made for effective grind lines in the past (with help from Mitchell).

I'd sit Mitchell...he has regressed quite a bit in the last couple years. I even like Pat Johnson ahead of him, based on the last few games I've seen.

I was pumped about Mitchell going out of last year. Remember the concern that he would leave? Now this year, where's he been?

Mitchell has always disappeared for the 1st half of the season for the previous two only to come on strong in the second half. I hve no problem sitting him hoping that it would light a fire in him and get him back to where he should hav been at the start of the season.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Well Varsity Wisconsin, are you now okay with us lending a few to the cause?

• Our program got several nice shout outs throughout the tourney and especially at the end of the game tonight.

• Stepan elevated his game and will probably be better down the stretch than he would have had he not gone.

• And we even won the utterly meaningless(in comparison) Badger Showdown without them.

Before you all jump on me, I was at the games and am glad we won and I realize that we are now 4th and the tie with Yale will help in the pairwise and all that, but the WJC is so much bigger than one weekend of college hockey in January.

Now for the second half!

I was just about to post something similar... I wonder if you ask Stepan, Ramage, or Gardnier how it felt to beat Canada for that "meaningless" gold medal. What a great win for the US, and I'm glad that our boys played a big part of it. Now, let's move our focus onto bringing home NC #7!

I'm ok with it if it is a necessary evil to bring in more recruits, but the bottom line is that we probably lost a point this season as a result of the WJC because we probably win the game against Yale outright instead of in a shootout which according to the PWR is a tie. But, the question remains will one point make the difference between us playing or not playing in postseason play? Last year it did. And did this game allow us to gain recruits like Stepan, Gardiner, and Ramage? Maybe. My request would be to play these games so that they aren't in conflict with NCAA regular season hockey.

Well here's to hoping you're right and he gets it together. He's always seemed too complacent to me, no fire. But maybe that's just the appearance we see as fans.

It's been said before, and I'll say it again. If we are that close to elimination at the end of the year, we had much bigger problems than the absence of these guys for a couple of games.

We keep telling them this, but they keep forgetting. We'll keep fighting the good fight though. :D

How do you know that UW wouldn't have lost the game to Yale if those players would have played for UW instead of the WJC?

Statements like this are crazy. Did you watch any of the WJC games this year?
The WJC tourney, year after year, is some of the best hockey to watch. I love collegiate/UND hockey more than anything, but the WJC tourney is a must-watch every year. Simply great hockey.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that us being shorthanded on DMan and forcing us to move a forward to D probably cost us a point. Not to mention that Stepan, Gardiner, and Ramage are light years better than Johnson, Thurber, and Bendickson as a DMan. I don't think that I am making a ridiculous contention, but yes, it isn't for sure.

FTR, I did not watch any of the games because I do not get the NHL Network.

There were countless free webcasts available for even just last nights game.
You missed a heck of a tourney.

Possibly if you would have watched a game or two you would have seen why these players would want to leave their teams midseason and play for their country for a couple weeks.

Stepan played out of his mind and was the captain of a team that will go down as one of the most memorable USA teams in history. He will come back to UW all the better for it.

I agree, the fact is that this totally dismisses the role that Yale played in the results of that game. I suspect that even with the both teams at full compliments, if they played 10 games against each other it would be a 4-3-3 split with UW having one more win. Yale is a very good team, end of story.

In fact, going with the KRACH ratings:
UW=339.7 and Yale=230.9, UW would have an expected winning percentage of 59% and Yale 41%. Far from a slam dunk of a victory, even with everyone here.

I watched every game when I was home...fantastic! I know the announcers were US homers, but they gave a lot of love to Wisconsin (players, Oz, Eaves, etc) and the WCHA. "Step" got a ton of face time and it was well deserved.

vw; come out of the closet.
