(Seriously, maybe because I was thinking about ARD at that moment, my brain did parse it as "For ARD" pretty much at the same moment as it saw "Forward")

I believe it's less the band and more the uppermost band leadership to blame. Great progress had been made last year with regards to band attendance, but they've been a no-show so far this year. I just can't quite figure out why they aren't put up on the same level as volleyball and women's basketball. I'd love to know the reaction of Coach Sheffield or the new Coach Tsipis if the band just didn't show up for big chunks of their season.
There are three events on Saturday right next to each other. Men's basketball at noon, women's hockey at 3:30 and men's hockey at 8:00. Hard to believe that there wouldn't be some kind of band at the basketball game. If that's the case, there should be some kind of band at all games that day. Unfortunately, if I had to bet money on it, I'd say that women's hockey will get stiffed by the band both days.

I get the vibe that Cece will get the starts this weekend. If Desbiens is still dealing with concussion symptoms, I wouldn't be surprised if they shut her down until next semester. It's obviously not ideal, but the endgame is being in the best position to win a national title. Plus it gives Cece more exposure to the top talent out there. Can only help in the long run.

You would think so, but IF the Gophers manage to get a lot of shots by her it COULD result in her losing confidence, which for a goaltender is a big deal. Notice I said "IF" and "COULD". And who knows, maybe Desbiens WILL play and it's all a moot point.

Umm, yes I am. Again, this is less about the actual students than the band as a whole. I assume that there will be a band for the 1st and 2nd (hopefully) round of the NCAA Volleyball tournament, the Friday and Saturday night men's game and Saturday men's basketball game. However, I'm supposed to be cool with them not being at the biggest regular season games of the year against Minnesota (#1 vs #2)? I don't think so. Not when they already have missed the first 6 home games with no such scheduling issues.

Yeah we are. We want the band there to jazz up the atmosphere. Sometimes in life you have to go the extra mile and this is one of those instances.
I wonder if either game will sellout. The FB game is away, so there is a large pool of Badger lovers still in Madison who could come. I just bought 2 more giving me 5 per game.
I think Cece will be fine if she plays. She just needs to be more aggressive on rebounds. MJ the last 2 weeks has said they have showed her video that made an immediate impact on her play. It is very good for her to play now, just like it was for ARD when Rigsby went down, but I want to beat the rodents and ARD is our best chance. I agree they may just park her for the semester to be safe. If they go 2-2 over the next 4, in the big picture it really doesn't matter.
I think ARD being out is hurting her PK chances, though going 18-0 after the break before the ncaa's will look good on the resume. It's actually good for ARD's PK chances if Cece loses a few, it will show her value to the team. If Cece shuts out the rodents twice it's a bad look for ARD.

Series preview news/notes. Looks like tomorrow's game is sold out, but tickets available for Sunday. Unfortunately, going head-to-head with the Packers which is always a challenge.
About as good as media coverage as possible. Radio feed is 1070, which is stronger than 92.1 (normal radio outlet) and Sunday's game on Fox Sports North.
In theory, with no unbeaten streaks or long goals against streaks at play, Badgers can just go out and play as loose as possible. Championships aren't going to be won or lost this weekend.

Can someone explain to me why Nurse is on the left as a left handed shot and Pankowski is on the right as a right handed shot on the power play? To my eye it limits the shooter's options and gives the advantage to the defense when passing.

I've wondered that for a while (not those particular players, but the default point players play on the same side they shoot unless they have to rotate).

Have to take a break (perhaps permanently) from watching the Badgers choke away the Big 10 championship game.
Gophers definitely deserved the win today. They came out with more energy and (for the most part) controlled the play the first two periods. Finally, Wisconsin played with some urgency in the 3rd, but just couldn't bury one. There were some serious scrums in front of both goalies where I couldn't believe nobody scored. Both Desbiens and Peters got helped out by the pipe/crossbar.
I'm impressed how consistently Minnesota plays Wisconsin. They never have an off-game, a bad period and rarely have a bad stretch more than a minute or two. In addition, they clear their defensive zone and transition to offense so well. Make one little mistake and it's an odd-man rush. When the Badgers did make a rush, it always seemed like a 1-on-2 or 2-on-3 in which you really don't have a good scoring chance.
So all you can do is get back to it tomorrow and hope for a better effort and get some better bounces. Looks like tomorrow is also a sellout, which is rare around here on a Packer Sunday.
I'm really missing Courtney Burke running the PP. There just seems to be too much talent for the power play to be this mediocre.
