Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017
Kind of the same with what I responded to about your original post. I was expecting Wisconsin to have a better game Sunday but not the breakdown from Minnesota in virtually every aspect of their game. Like you said something you just don't see from Minnesota. I was somewhat in shock watching it.
Hmm, I guess I should have written that 24 hours earlier. Even with Minnesota down Cameranesi (which is obviously a big deal), I didn't expect that kind of game. There may have been more defensive breakdowns and bad goals given up by Minnesota in one afternoon against Wisconsin than over the last 5-6 years combined (that I've witnessed). Then add in a better energy level by the Badgers and multiple highlight goals and here we are. After a frustrating loss Saturday, I wasn't sure if they would come back playing tight or night. Whatever was said or done from one game to the next worked in a big way.
Personally, my favorite plays were the assists from Norby to Nurse and the Roque assist to Welhaussen. Those were great plays against anyone, but almost never seen against Minnesota.
Ultimately, both teams got what they needed, though not necessarily wanted, from the weekend if that makes any sense. Minnesota gets the split on the road short-handed, and Wisconsin gets the payback game to hopefully show that the Gophers aren't in their head again.
