Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

It is going to suck if they are not there for either game especially considering it looks like they'll be at every other Badger event on campus. Not to pile on the women's basketball team, but why would they want to play there and not women's hockey?

I would think that you should be safe in Lot 91 in the early afternoon prior to women's BB. Can't imagine parking enforcement would still be out beyond halftime of that game.

Women's bb averages 3500 in attendance taking a quick look at the last 8 home game box scores. It could be greater attendance = more love from the band. Though that few of people + sucky team in that big of a building has to make for a really bad atmosphere, band or no band.

I think I will be safe in lot 91 as well with an 11 start time for wbb. I'll be pulling into the lot around 1 ish.

Huge series, I feel just as nervous about these games as I did the rodents after the debacle in suzieland. I think if UW can win out, they stand a chance on getting the #1 seed from BC. If not it will be another UW/UM matchup in the ncaa semi's, which would suck, but at least UW will then get a shot at BC in the title game. Lots of assumptions and probably a longshot to sweep the rodents in rodentsota, but that is the goal in my head anyway, win the title and beat BC somewhere along the way.

Just realized Sunday's game is at 1....what a dope I am sometimes.....I'll get into lot 91 around noon.

Not that it automatically means a sweep by any means, but I think they will be a lot more dialed in for No Dak this weekend than the series up in Grand Forks.

As far as the band, I'm not saying they should play at women's hockey over women's basketball. However, they play at virtually all the basketball games and only a handful of games for women's hockey. Granted, I'm somewhat biased, but factoring in venue size and team performance, the atmosphere at the women's hockey game is a lot better than women's basketball and it's not close.

I ran into my next door neighbor at the bus stop tonight; she plays trombone in the band (and was coming home from playing at men's hockey). She said she was pretty sure there would be a band at LaBahn on Saturday, and almost definitely on Sunday (she was a little vague on details because she herself wasn't able to play either day, but was pretty sure there would be band this weekend).

Great hopeful news! It's a great day for hockey! Let's go RED!

Would be great to see. After that dump that the men's team took at Kohl last night, band will be treated to a team with much more relative talent and much more overall compete level.

If it's any consolation they're better than they were last year.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

I'll say this, if the band was here, I don't know where you'd put them. I have never seen LaBahn even close to this full. We got here right during the introductions, and had to look hard just to find seats even in the corners, and the standing rails are packed all the way around.

Nice to see they seem to have fixed the sellout with lots of empty seats issue they had the past few years.

My brain hurts trying to understand why a Big Ten school doesn't have more than one winter sports pep band.

There's no set "pep band." Everyone in the band does football, and then they sign up for the various bball, hockey, and volleyball games.

NCAA quarterfinal games were probably this packed. There are definitely VERY few unused tickets.

It has been nice to see sellouts with great actual turnout - the first year LaBahn was open had the only truly bad "sellouts" - that's been pretty much fixed. It probably also helps that many of the sellouts in the past 2 years have occurred on the day of a game, because it's less likely that something will come up that causes someone to eat his or her tickets.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

No band, what a bummer. I'm not sure Hanrahan's arm knows how to point up in the air, some other curious calls and in the end they called nothing. Not as bad as the men's game yesterday though, not even close.

The sue bad better chances, ARD was awesone. Tomorrow it will be interesting to see if UW can ramp up the pressure. MJ started the 3rd line, that was interesting. Miller must be hurt, she didn't even dress. Her and Rolfes just sat on the bench during warm-ups with no apparent physical injuries.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

It could have been soooooo much worse.

I'll take no band and women's performance vs. having the band and watching one of the worst men's game I've ever attended. Honestly, the band and an organized student section is being wasted on the men's team.

Anyway, No Dak was no joke. They probably played the best of any team that's come into LaBahn, at least for one game. Sowchuk's goal was a gift shot from an impossible angle. After that, both goalies and defenses clamped down. Desbiens won the game for them as she made a huge breakaway save plus killed a full 2-minute 5-on-3 penalty.

Amazingly, Wisconsin has scored one goal in regulation in 3 games against North Dakota and has 5 points. Hopefully the Badgers can put a few more on the board today because they are playing with fire winning these 1-0 games.

LaBahn was a full as I've ever seen. As soon as my niece got up to go get some food or whatever, had people trying to swoop in and get the seat. I feel bad for the fans getting turned back at the door, but people need to start learning they can't roll up on game day against the likes of No Dak/Minnesota/UMD and be surprised that it's sold out.

Yeah, that was the dig I intended. I have a great deal of sympathy for you as a former Gopher mens fan who got tired of half-fast output (Holy Cross anyone?). I love your womens team and would be OK if the only games they lost every year were to MN ;). What I don't understand is why these two teams do not sell out every night when the men do. This is going to be a down year for attendance at Ridder, partly because of schedule (Halloween & NFL playoff game a block away) and partly because they have actually lost a couple. We will probably be under 2000 a game on average which means 1500 people are missing a great game played by great players.

Now go kick some sue behind!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

We had the band today! That was awesome.

That was a tough game. UND really owned the 2nd period. They kicked it up a notch. Luckily UW's big 4 (ARD, Clark, Nurse, Pankowski) all came through and pulled out a tough win. The sue played every bit as good as the rodents did against UW.

For some reason, during the post game handshakes, und's top assistant was having a major hissy fit. The coaches nearly did not shake hands due to him. He wanted none of it. Mark Johnson's reaction to him was similar to how he used do deal with Ms. Miller. There was a horrible non-call against UW when a sue player got nailed into the boards, but that would have been between the sue and the ref's, not the UW coaches.

Funny - if that hit was against a UW player, all hell would break loose on this forum. Seeing it was the other way around, it's an issue between UND and the referees!
