Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Rolfes not in lineup tonight. I assume they are shutting her down until next semester. That's too bad. Hopefully, she'll be ready to roll against UMD.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Well, pretty much a complete bust of a night for Badger sports. Volleyball loses in 5 sets in Sweet 16, men's hockey loses again after having a multiple goal lead and the women get handed their first loss.

Can't make sense of North Dakota. Obviously they have talent to beat both Minnesota and Wisconsin but losses to Syracuse and Ohio State are hard to explain.

Big game tomorrow going into the semester break. Don't want to lose any more ground that was gained last weekend against Minnesota.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Great article about ARD on this site. She certainly seems to be a an outgoing spirit on the ice. She'll interact with fans along the boards during games and chat during pregame with people (she was planning a party Friday night) and she's even tweeted with me. She promised me UW would crush the sue.
Perhaps "crush" wasn't the right word...

I put too much pressure on her. I have a son her age and it's my dream to get those 2 together.

Friday....it's ugly statistically. Down 2-0 and 3-0 in the 3rd period and get outshot 10-3? Especially after outshooting them 15-2 in the 2nd, what a turn of events. I'd love to hear what MJ has to say about that game. Definitely a hangover type game.

Saturday was more like it, outshooting them 47-17. That's the type of game we're used to seeing.

There is a popular belief that the long change required in the second period is a boost for the better skating club. Stats like that seem to lend credence. Maybe some of the really hardcore stats guys here (eeyore?) have the skill to prove that but I'd suggest they ignore the NHL since that is a different game.

As for the weekend, you need to take a philosophical approach teams have good games and bad games at random times and no matter how hard we try to explain or justify them they just happen, nobody escapes. The regular season should be about building & growing more than wins and loses even when you are among the elite as Wisconsin is. This weekend will give Johnson points to work with for the rest of the year and is a good lesson for the team. I'm not convinced it was a letdown or taking UND too lightly but the thought is in their head now that they have to bring their very best to every shift of every game. I don't think they will have a problem with that when it counts in spring.

Edit: grammar.

yes, WI outshooting the opponent and not scoring is what we are used to seeing

Funny funny pokechecker!

Anyway, I was hoping UW would keep their machine like play going, but alas, it was not to be the case. What sucks the most is now BC will continue to dine at the dessert buffet, while UW and UM toil with the protein, meaning they will be stuck in the 2-3 spots in the poles til the end and play each other in the semis again. Even if UW or UM sweeps eachother in the next meeting will that be enough to supplant and undefeated BC? I'd say yes but what will the ncaa say?

Fixed your post. My guess is the Pairwise will have BC at #1.

BC is in the driver's seat now mathematically, even if UW sweeps UM, BC will be #1 in the Pairwise if they go undefeated. In fact if UM sweeps UW I am almost certain BC will stay in 1st even with a loss.

If BC goes undefeated you'll be looking to see if UW or UM fall to 4th to set up those east/west semifinals.

She needs to demonstrate that she can win the big game when it matters. Maybe less smiling and more focus would help. She is definitely talented.

I'd say sweeping the rodents qualifies for winning the big game, so does winning the wcha tourney last year and so does beating BU in the ncaa's last year.

Point taken. I would say that this year is Wisco's year and we will see if she can lead the team to the NCAA championship. That's the big game.

Not to say that intangibles are totally worthless, but this comment reeks of Sportuguese. (Insert comment about Tim Tebow here.)

On the men's side, Joel Rumpel had an outstanding career while being aloof.

Maybe it will be, but this year is more key for a lot of other teams. Wisconsin has a lot of seniors, but other than Burke, they tend to be role players. Teams like BC, UM, Clarkson, BSU, UND, Northeastern, Harvard and Quinnipiac get hit a lot harder by graduation, so next year sets up to be Wisconsin's year.

I agree UW has more talent coming in than going out, but as we have seen in the past, it's not necessarily who has the most talent, it's about who has the best team. That being said, I love the talent coming in next year and next year they have the potential to be even better than this year.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

A hockey week....yay! I reached out to Baggot about Rolfes' status, no rely yet (if I get one at all). She's missed at least 6 weeks with no visible casts (she has sat on the bench during warmups, I'm not stalking her).

Should be a tough series with da dawgettes coming up. They have split w/Hawvawd and the sue, swept OSU and tied/beat St. Cloud, kinda all over the place results-wise. Dumb Friday game deprives me of seeing the game, last one for the year however. Kinda bummed all the rest of the home games are afternoon tilts. Getting from Church to the games Sundays @ noon is tight.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

No Rolfes, still out with "upper body injury". Considering someone had heard on the radio it was a concussion, it's a very bad sign to be out 2 months+. Channel is off playing for Canada with weekend, so only 4 full time D plus Drake. I doubt there will be a d shift without Ryan or Burke on the ice.
