Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Really looking forward to seeing how the full compliment of UW's firepower will shake out against the revamped dawgs. UMD will have better chemistry since they played 2 games already only missing 1 player, while UW was missing 5 last weekend. UW can't afford a loss if they want to win the nuclear arms race against the rodents for the title.

LET'S GO RED!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Great way to open conference play with a sweep of the Bulldogs, on the road no less. If I'm reading it right, after only 4 games, 12 different players have scored goals. One of those isn't Annie Pankowski, but she leads the team in assists. Early returns seem to say that this is easily the most offensively balanced team since 2011-2012.

Looks like they have rotated players on the 4th line so everybody seems to be getting playing time each weekend. One notable exception is that Maddie Rolfes hasn't played yet this year. I'm curious as to why, but the athletic department is historically quiet on player availability.

Ohio State should prove to be an entertaining opening home series. Hopefully there will be good crowds, but it's a pain in the a-- that both games are literally scheduled at the same time as the volleyball team. When those programs are two of the top team sports for the UW, all efforts should be made so they aren't competing against each other for attendance. Unfortunately, I have to assume that the band will be at the volleyball matches and they won't bother sending anyone over to LaBahn for either game. I hope that I'm proven wrong.

Wow, it just hit me that the home opener is within a week! I'll try to remember to bring big "Bring," "The," and "Band" signs. It stinks that there's a volleyball conflict, but thankfully there aren't a ton of those this year, as there have been in years past, between volleyball and men's and women's hockey. On Saturday the 18th, women's hockey and volleyball have home games that day, but different times! Of course, Saturdays more easily allow for afternoon starts.

Rolfes is hurt

Rolfes is hurt

What is the timeline on Rolfes' return?

Mega pumped for the home opening series before that battle royal.

I am very inpressed with the scoring from so many different players (17 players with points after 4 games), but I am a little bummed Wellhausen and Pankowski have not lit the lamp yet (yeah I'm getting greedy I know).

She made the trip to Duluth this weekend. But overall I'm not entirely sure on her timeline.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I have no solid intel either, but I think she could see the ice this weekend. She was skating, but non-contact, last I saw her.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I'm not sure either what is going on with Rolfes. I do remember however hearing she was hurt at the U-18 Worlds back in March. Don't know if this is related. I'm really not too worried about either Pankowski or Wellhausen not scoring a goal yet. I watched the video of both games vs. UMD this weekend and both players were right in the thick of things and getting chances. Pankowski is also on the power play and Wellhausen is not currently on either PP unit. Both players really seem to be fitting right in on their respective lines though. I really like the McKibbon, Nurse, Wellhausen line as the third line for Coach Johnson..They scored UW's second goal of the game on a really nice passing play where all 3 touched the puck coming out of their own end that ended with a Nurse goal.. they play well together! Pankowski with Clarke and Sylvester are great as the second line too creating lots of chances... just a matter of time until Pankowski lights the lamp!

They also had major problems with the video - I think it was the first time using the new platform.

It's a great day for hockey! I haven't looked this forward to something in a long time.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I was told by a handful of UW Band members that they're going to try and talk to [someone, I forget whom] in order to get a pep band in to women's hockey games regularly.

Maddie Rolfes in uniform and in the top D pairing with Burke for today's game

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

UW really dominated all 6 periods on even strength. OSU took the 4 pp's on the 3rd period Friday to narrow sog, otherwise Friday's sog for OSU would have looked like today's. Clark looked the best out of all the Fr. forwards, very very fast. The fr seem to be all seem to be having issues with figuring out just how physical they can be. Hopefully they are getting it figured out quickly, they won't want to be giving the rodents to many cheap pp's.

ARD struggled with handing the puck behind the net, more so Friday than today, though that one popped to the front of the goal today, but I missed how that happened. Her retro brown leather pads and wood stick are a little hard to get used to, I must say I prefer the red and white pads, but as long as she's happy. I don't remember her bring so incredibly cool in the net, she just makes it look so effortless out there. The D played very well in front of her as well, OSU only had 2-3 great chances all weekend.

Great to see Rolfes in the lineup, it's good to get the best players available to play for next weekend.

I was awesome getting that 3rd goal with .5 left on the clock.

Too bad Ammerman didn't score on that play where she grabbed the puck at the penalty box door as she left, that would have been the bomb popping 1 there.

ARD's pads are awesome.
