I was so excited about today. Before this game started (and during the first part of it), there were multiple college basketball games and multiple college hockey games on TV. Then this game started, and it's the biggest game of the day for me. Later, there will be Wisconsin Basketball. But holy macaroni, this game really, really, really, really dampened my mood. Why do I even watch sports? I'm glad I have the hockey game muted. It would be a lot worse if I had to listen.

I hear you brother. This loss puts a damper on the whole sports weekend regardless of what the basketball team does and I'm a big fan of the basketball team.
This losing streak against the Gophers is just surreal. Yes, they are very good, but the talent level isn't that different to justify 0-16-2 or whatever the h-ll it is. I thought the Badgers played fairly well, but just a disasterous 10 minutes or so cost them the game and season.
Time to take the dog out, clear my mind and get ready for basketball.
Minnesota is on an amazing run...16-0-2 against the Badgers is just mind boggling. I really thought all week that with the way Wisconsin played at the end of the year that they would be able to break the winless streak against Minnesota. And when Pankowski scored first tonight I thought the Gophers might be in trouble but as was said the Gopher just seem to have that extra bit of confidence to find a way to change the momentum. As discouraged as you are right now you can see what the future holds with Wisconsin's freshmen class lead by Pankowski.
but as was said the Gopher just seem to have that extra bit of confidence to find a way to change the momentum.
A lot more than this was UW's failure to capitalize on it's huge number of great opportunities in the first half of the game.
It could have easily been 4 or 5 or 6 - 0. If that would have happened I don't think UM's extra bit of confidence/ability to change momentum would be a topic anyone would be thinking of discussing.
Marksmanship and missing the memo about crashing the net and creating traffic in front...that was their problem in my opinion, more than anything else.
Their countless unsupported long distance shots looked like bantam level or worse...frustration and maybe desperation. Too bad the second half of the game wasn't more competitive.
Right out of the BC excuse playbook. Hell, it must have been the fact that Wisco took Minnesota lightly after they scored first and didn't go up by "4 or 5 or 6."
I am all aboard the Pankowski hype train.
To me, it's the difference in the game. Minnesota seems physically stronger and just a little quicker in front of the net. Badgers need a quick goal to get some momentum back.
No, the difference in the game was Amanda Leveille, who made some unreal saves to keep the Gophers in it for the first 30 minutes, vs. Desbiens, who left too many pucks uncovered in close to the net. If you ignore the goalies (which you shouldn't, since they get scholarships, too) Wisconsin badly outplayed Minnesota today. It wasn't even so much that the Gophers played badly, though they certainly weren't at their sharpest, but the rest of the Badger lineup was phenomenal. They just couldn't get the puck past #29.
