Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

Re: Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

I caught the Saturday night game and all I have to say is: Look out WCHA. Hilary Knight, in my opinion, is playing at a much higher level than her 2008-09 WCHA POY season. Okay, I realize it was just one game but I've got the feeling this will be a very good year for the Badgers.
They looked awesome on Friday too and IMO if they can keep playing like this (or better) and stay healthy, they should be a threat for a 4th NCAA championship this season.

For my first post here, I present Pictures of Hillary Knight's first of four goals on the weekend...

WPT posted a video interview with Mark Johnson. They will broadcast this Sunday's game tape-delayed at 10 p.m. on The Wisconsin Channel.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

Just curious, how often does Wisconsin wear their reds for a home game?

For the past three seasons, they've worn this red third jersey (similar to the men's road jersey) just for their non-conference games at the Kohl Center. The white jersey with the red W is used for all other home games and the red jersey with the white W are used for road games...

Outstanding interview, MJ adds instant credibility to womens hockey.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

Nice weekend sweep for the girls going into the off week..

7-1 and 2-0 wins.

4 goal weekend for Prevost. Both Ammerman's continue playing well. Madison Packer was in the lineup as the 4th line LW both games, didnt really see much icetime but took 2 shots on Sunday including one where she stole the puck and nearly rifled it past Tomcikova..

Re: Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

Badgers looked great on Friday night in the 2nd and 3rd periods after getting down 1-0. Even late in the game up by 5-6 goals, I appreciated the top lines still going at it hard.

Today was more of a grind, but never really felt the final outcome was in doubt. Nothing personal against Bemidji, but these are the kind of series that you have to get two wins. Way too many splits last year against less talented teams.

This team has a nice combination of talent and depth. I assume that they'll keep rotating Ruegsegger and Rigsby, which is a nice luxury since both have looked solid.

Relatively sparse crowd today with the warm weather, going up against the Packers and the UW was doing a soccer promotion. Kind of sucks when they get scheduled up against other UW sporting events (happens a fair amount with volleyball).

Four games into the season and no band at any of the games. Would have been nice especially on Friday night on the eve of Homecoming.

Great weekend for the ladies, hopefully they can keep it going this weekend against Ohio State!

Junior Carolyne Prevost (Sarnia, Ontario) was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 13 after recording four goals in the Badgers’ series against Bemidji State last weekend.

Prevost’s four-goal effort included a hat trick, two game-winners, a shorthanded goal, a power play goal and a first goal, as the Badgers (4-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) swept Bemidji State (1-3-0, 0-2-0 WCHA) in their league-opening series. Prevost had a plus-four rating in the two games. Her team-high 11 shots on the weekend produced a .364 shot percentage.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

Good weekend sweep for the ladies. They beat OSU 6-5 and 5-2. Im looking foreward to next weekend when they face Minnesota. Im going to be at the ladies game on Friday and the mens' game Saturday night. Its going to be a great weekend of hockey, not to mention its Halloween weekend, so the Kohl Center is going to be nuts on Saturday!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

Aren't they hosting Mankato next weekend???

They are. Minnesota is in Duluth... Then it's the Badgers and Gophers in Minneapolis I believe. I look forward to the Minnesota / Wisconsin series...especially 'cause they both play a "sportsmanlike" brand of hockey. ;)

hopefully they can keep the hugs and pats on the head during the game to a minimum..

I still remember a couple years back when a couple badgers and gophers went head over heels into the net, got up, hugged each other and then skated back to their benches...

Our two womens teams are unique that way, you dont see the badgers and gophers getting along very often.

Love the fact that Mark is taking part in the Gopher Chalk Talk coaches luncheon on Nov. 6, you would never see the men do that!
