Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

Re: Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

Been a fairly quiet off season thus far. Overheard that the Badgers are having trouble finalizing their 2011-2012 schedule. Maybe they should call Lindenwood for a few games! ;)

Girls going through spring conditioning for the past few weeks. Sounds like three of the four incoming freshman will be taking summer classes at UW. Also hear we are getting at least one transfer in and maybe another!

Frykas transferring out to Quinnipiac and Johnson interviewing at Penn State [LINK] have brought out little discussion... stay tuned!

The fact that MJ is interviewing for the Penn St. position leads me to believe those we've heard from in the past ensuring us there's zero chance he'd leave UW could be wrong. Sounds like they want him for the job. We'll see if they want him badly enough to lure him from Madison.

I'll be surprised if he leaves Wisconsin. This quote from the article is pretty telling, I think: "I owed it to myself to go in..."

I have to agree.. I think at this stage its worth it for him to at least hear what there selling. Same for Tracey Dekeyser. You can only decline interviews to move up so many times before the offers dry up. I talked to Marks son patrick during one of the girls games and he couldnt speak enough as to how much his dad enjoys coaching this team.

The only way I see him leave Madison is for a boat load of money and a chance to build again what he has done here. The first of which Penn State can offer, the second we will only know in time and I dont know if coach is at the stage in his career where he is willing to give up the time and attention that a major building job requires.

One thing some may miss is how much it speaks to the development of the womens game that a womens coach is being considered for a head mens job at a major institution. Something that never would have been considered 10 years ago.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers '10-'11

I know he and his family are very comfortable in Madison and he seems to truly enjoy working with the women. He has accomplished almost everything other than coaching the gold medal. He's achieved that pinnacle due to the pursuit of excellence and the desire to achieve. Could he still have one unmet driver to round out his on and off-ice legacy and that is to coach a championship men's team? The PSU job presents the ultimate opportunity in that it would be cradle to ????? and the ultimate reward for any coach if they did achieve an NCAA championship. Best wishes in whatever he decides if he is offered the opportunity.

Fortunately for Badger fans, now a moot point with the Princeton coach getting the Penn State job. Curious if he was the first choice or not.

Let the dynasty resume......
