Re: Who advances to the Frozen Four?

The more things change, the more they stay the same, or as Yogi might have said, "Deja Vu All Over Again."

M,W,C, & BC.

except that the two that didn't make it to the final last year, will
cheeseheads will be drinking beer when it is over

I agree. When my favorite team loses, I head to a bar for a beer, too.

But, just in case the unthinkable happens. Any good bars near the arena in St Charles?

I already know where all the bars are in Duluth.

Disagree, from behind and unexpected in open ice. Gabel could have been seriously injured and happy she wasn't. If that happens close to the boards or if she is facing the net, there is no question it's a suspension. Good call.

Bad call. Helmet to helmet, no high stick or cross check. Hard-in to save a goal, player stayed on to play next shift she was hurt so bad. No way suspendable, poor on the ref and league given the situation.

According to the above Fan Forum prognosticators the 'Dogs are the decided underdog on Saturday vs UM.

Perfect.

No way it was a bad call. It was a punch to the head and the league was certainly correct in adding the suspension.

see for yourself. What a right cross. She should be a boxer.

Camera angle is from behind the net, which I imagine is what the ref saw. There's no right cross call in hockey, so I imagine he had to call it a cross check. It does give a different perspective than the other camera angle.

St. Lawrence is getting a lot of love, rightfully so. How nervous is T3?

That's just because the Bulldogs fans are lying low in the weeds instead of voting ;)

I'm not under any fantasy that this is going to be an easy game, but I think BC got the right matchup. If you can shut down that top line you've got a good chance to win, and us getting home ice -- last change -- is going to be a big deal. We can throw Keller's D pairing out there whenever they go out. I'm actually curious to see who Kinger pairs with Keller. Keller-Flanagan would be pretty tough to get around.

I like it though, I think we got as good a first round game as we could have hoped for. Bizal is back FINALLY and that's a huge add to the lineup -- she's got a better PPG *and* a better +/- per game than Kali Flanagan, who was just named to the USWNT. And Bizal had been out for a really, really long time.

I'm just excited to see what we've got now that our roster is as full as it's going to get, now that they've had a couple games together, and now that they haven't played 3 OTs in two days haha

Much better angle - holy cow! It makes me wonder what she was thinking, that was not a hockey move (outside the NHL) and not really necessary. I wonder if there is some history between the two?

I don't know if there was a history, but there is now and as a freshman (O'Neill) and a sophomore (Gable) I imagine they will be meeting again on the ice a few more times in the next two years. I would also imagine O'Neill is pretty regretful of her spur of the moment decision to throw the haymaker.

Re: Who advances to the Frozen Four?

All part of the Possum Play...flying under everyone's radar. Well, almost everyone.
To play possum, you need to play dead. It doesn't matter what fans think; the opponent is who you have to fool. Beating a team three straight times, including the week before, isn't going to make them think that you're dead. UMD may still win, but I'm sure the 'Dogs are on UM's radar.

Re: Who advances to the Frozen Four?

If UMD wins, I'm going with the theory that the Bulldogs were better. For all of the Rope-a-Dope, Ali was self-proclaimed as "The Greatest Heavyweight of All Time!" Foreman is best known for naming all of his sons George and selling electric grills.

well, if that's how we're going to judge them, I'd say George is the winner. Ali is dead and his brain was mush for about 2 decades before he died. George seems to be living a wonderful life since getting out of boxing.

Yeah, probably that's true today. But for us old folks it would be his waving of the US flag in the ring when he won gold in 1968, the first to defeat Smokin' Joe professionally ("down goes Frazier") and becoming the oldest heavyweight to ever win the championship at the ripe young age of 45.

I totally agree. But that info didn't fit my position, and this is the Internet where we pick and choose facts and spin them in an attempt to make whatever point suits us in the moment. Reality just gets in the way.

Re: Who advances to the Frozen Four?

Wisco - because duh (haven't forgotten 2011, but I'm not an idiot :p )
Duluth - because I'm bitter (2013/2014/2015/half bitter 2016)
Clarkson - because Mercer
St Lawrence - because BC Sucks :p
