Forgot to mention yesterday that four years ago UMD had a player on their roster, Alivia del Basso, from Perth, Australia...another long distance and interesting addition to NCAA Women's D1 hockey.
She may also have been a first.

I have a friend in Perth who has never seen snow, and really had no idea that ice hockey exists until she read the rough draft of my novel.

We played Aussie rules football in my backyard in the snow and it was a life highlight.
I have a friend and his wife who visited us last year from Adelaide. The wife had never seen snow in her life, and we had just gotten a foot the day before they got here. I've never seen anyone so in awe of something haha
