Is there an app that I can use to make individual text sounds or do all incoming texts have to be the same on the Droid?

I hope not because having everyone the same incoming text sound is incredibly boring!!! :p

Can't you modify individual contacts' ringtones, alerts, etc.? I can do it on my Black Berry.

You can customize the sounds for individual contacts using the Handcent SMS app for Android 2.1. I just installed it last night and I've spent a good 2 hours customizing all the options.

What I really want to do is change facebook's notification sound. It's the same as my text message notification and it really annoys the heck out of me that I can't change the facebook sound.

Actually, that reminds me: is it possible to get Facebook to stop sending me push notifications to my iPhone? I decided that they're just not all that important, especially since they're also sent to my email and get to my phone that way as well.

Yeah. Go to settings -> Notifications -> Facebook

I *think* you can do it by adjusting your settings on Fb. But given how often Fb changes its settings, etc., it may not last, since I tend to lose it everytime Black Berry has a new update.

Hmm, that might do it. I kept looking within the Facebook app on the phone and maybe that wasn't the right spot.

No "might" about it. You can also change it in: Settings -> Facebook -> Push Notifications.

iPhone - I am T-Pain

It's autotune! You can control what key (A, B, etc.) it plays back in. You only get to choose major or minor, though. I am bummed it doesn't cover pentatonic, whole tone, blues, be-bop scales or any modes (mixolydian, phrygian, etc.)

Hours of stupid, stupid fun though. It also makes you angry, however. Because after just a few minutes of effing around, you have made a hip-hop tune every bit as good as most that are popular right now.

Ok, so I missed the official 3.1.2 update from apple. Mine is currently a 3.0 jailbreak (purplera1n). I have Cydia installed and I'm updating it. However, when I choose "Upgrade Essential" it also lists an item called "firmware."

Does this actually update my firmware to a JB 3.1.2/3? I really do not want to **** up my phone and have to wait until 4.0 is jailbroken.

Edit: I should mention that I have a 3GS.

Nevermind. I found out that Spirit was released recently and just re-jailbroke the phone after updating to 3.1.3.

Yes you can, and you dont need 2.1 to do it. I cant remember if you can do it in the stock text feature but if you download ChompSMS or Handscent you can for sure. In fact it is real easy.

If you want to make ringtones and the like real easy Ringdroid is the way to go...takes like a third of the time.

What is jailbreaking a phone? I am guessing that is similar to ROOTING which is what people do on Droids where they install a different ROM?

(There already is an app for the iPhone)

Two choices. Can't get a new phone until July.

1) Wait until July and re-up.
2) Buy the phone online now, and just have VZ go month to month from now on, letting me cancel at anytime.

One of the warnings before d-loading says something about services that cost you money and directly call phone numbers....

Sorry I'm new to this... If I d-load this app I'm not going to start paying for simple service am I?!?

Found out some answers. I'll post them here in case anyone else was interested.

Droid Incredible, Droid Eris
Download the HTC Sync app

Motorola Droid
sync a Google calendar to Outlook. Phone will sync with Google calendar, so by the transitive rule of sync-ing, the Moto-Droid will sync with Outlook. It actually works. Google-Outlook sync utility available at:
