What's your favorite App? (iPhone, Droid, etc)

Re: What's your favorite App? (iPhone, Droid, etc)

My mistake, the weather alert app goes by zipcode, not area code. So it is more focused on a specific area.

Well that makes more sense...
Tim Hortons Finder -- found a Tims in Geneseo NY, a block from where we were having dinner!

Tim's really cheeses me off. They used to have a couple in the Twin Cities (including one less than a mile from my apartment when I lived down there), but now there isn't one anywhere in Minnesota. Plus, last time I was in Ft. Frances (the closest to Bemidji at ~ 2 hours), Tim's wasn't where the website said it was supposed to be...

Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel - we went to Rhode Island for hockey last winter and all the Tims were closed. Guess Dunkin owns New England.

We're hoping that we'll have Tim's in the Pegula Ice Arena. I've offered to endow the coffee machine in the press box. :D

I just used Google street view to find Tim's in the Fort. No where near where it is listed as being on TimHortons.com Also found out that if you go the direction (west) on the Trans-Can that used to have basically nothing ~ 10-15 years ago, they now have a Walmart and a Canadian Tire there! Who knew?

I bought Plants vs Zombies for $1.49 on Android. Best money ever spent for a phone app.

That's growth in northern Ontario! We Canadians don't need maps to find Timmys - we have internal tracking! ;)

Amazon was giving it away for free yesterday ;)

But that's the great thing about these apps. You're never in them for much money. My current vote goes to the free android app "quick settings," which unlocks Wifi tethering on phones that block it (or force you to pay for the carrier's app).

Re: What's your favorite App? (iPhone, Droid, etc)

Yeah, I've got a few free from Amazon. But I don't remember to check every day.

Barcode (QR) Scanner, MLB At Bat 11, and Opera Mini are my most used apps.

Re: What's your favorite App? (iPhone, Droid, etc)

Picked up Mixology (bar drink app) and Tower Raiders (tower defense game). Both are pretty good so far.

TuneIn Radio.
Aldiko (eBooks)
Kindle (for the Amazon stuff)
Beat the Traffic

And Duck Hunt.

TuneIn has a LOT of radio stations, and, a LOT of college radio stations so I can keep track of hockey games while on the road during the winter.

Nexus S 4G

Where's the uscho app? That would make keeping up with this site so much easier.

Re: What's your favorite App? (iPhone, Droid, etc)

The "Find a Dunkin" app has been great since I do so much driving around NH and Mass. Not only do I like the coffee, but they also tend to have very very clean bathrooms (very important when you spend all day driving).

Re: What's your favorite App? (iPhone, Droid, etc)

Steve,

What is (will be?) the radio station for Penn State hockey? I want to see if TuneIn lists it.

We had a few games last season on WBLF-AM and are talking to them about the upcoming season. They are not streaming their content right now.

You can use the UStream app to watch the video feeds on your iPhone or Android, although we may move to GoPSUSports this coming season. Everything is up in the air right now.

I like Google maps because that's very easy to make a route with them and Sims for mobile that's my favorite PC game, but now I have it even in cell phone flash mp3 player

Re: What's your favorite App? (iPhone, Droid, etc)

Found a translate app for the Android that you type or say the phrase and it spells and says it out loud in whatever language you want.

I think I'm headed to France/Italy this winter and I tried a couple of phrases (typed in and spoken) and bingo!

The app is Transzilla and I think it also needs Google Translate.
