Saw them twice on the Kick tour and they were great. Good fun.

Heard a guy named Jesse Dee the other day - like him very much. Sort of a 50s/60s soul sound. Also heard "Love Letter" by Clairy Brown and the Banging Rackettes - very good (and sort of a similar sound).

Also, New Order has a new album out (!), and the first single is kind of cheesy, but I like it.

Sheesh, I haven't even got their last one, which came out in 2005. I did pick up Get Ready before that, and it was excellent.

This track has extremely lame lyrics, but it rawks!!!!

Echo & the Bunnymen - Do it Clean

This is a live album recorded a few years ago where they do their first two albums. Just picked this up and it's outstanding.

If you like these guys and like me dropped off in the late 80s, give this one a try. Breathes new life into this material. Very lush recording with nice full bass and Ian sounds great.

Must've been a good night. I saw them on this tour, and they were less than stellar. The band was terrific, they added a second guitar player and a keyboardist to their touring group, so the music was really fleshed out fully, but years of too many smokes and too many whiskeys have reduced Ian's once magnificent voice to little more than a croak. That, plus he didn't seem to be all that interested in actually being on stage. Could have just been a bad night, or near the end of the tour. And they were all set to play Killing Moon as a second encore, but didn't come out.

I saw them also about ten years previously, and while you could tell his voice wasn't the same, he did a real good job of covering, and the show was terrific. Not this time. You can see where Liam Gallagher stole all his stage moves from though.

Still, I might have to pick that up.

Edit: Only available as an MP3 download?

Am a huge fan. When Ian formed Electrofixion or whatever I saw them, Echobelly and another band (have to find the stub to remember) at the Fine Line and as good as that band was they were no Echo. And what's been great is that aside from Reverberation with his replacement, they have made some great records the past dozen years including Evergreen and Flowers among others.

btw I have really been digging the Divine Fits' A Thing Called the Divine Fits. If you like Spoon and or The Eels you will love this record.

It's nasty good. Listened to it twice through yesterday. Go on iTunes to the store and listen to the samples.

Stars are Stars Monkeys & Show of Strength should give you a good idea.

The second guitarist is very noticeable and really adds to the sound. Allows Sergeant to do his thing - and he stands out on this. The guitar work is nasty grungy at times. This is them playing raw with no orchestral or other crap. Could be a young band by how it sounds.

The guy who was asking for more music like Interpol might like this album...

Mine is an mp3 download. Not sure if it's avail on CD or not. I don't do CDs anymore.


I also picked up Live at the Royal Albert Hall & Never Stop - Live in Liverpool. Haven't heard them yet, but hoping they're as good.

Haven't listened to any Echo past the Self-titled album (which I love, pi ss off haters :p), so this live album was a nice get. I'm going to check out their post 80s studio stuff too. I've got them, but haven't heard them yet.


I checked out some samples of the Divine Fits' and I'll have to grab that alboom.

Hadn't heard about that project. Just when I think I'm caught up with all things music....

Great sound board of this show.


Essentially the same setlist/show as the official release from this tour, but there are noticeable differences in each song's performance.

Cool find.


EDIT: This show takes place two years after the official release cd/dvd and features a somewhat different band. When hearing Dogs, I didn't think it sounded like Carin singing, who I love and is basically a Floyd member (in my mind) since he's played extensively with both Roger and David. In checking it out I found...

From Wiki: "The success of Waters' two American tours encouraged him to make his 2002 tour a world tour. The set list for 2002 was similar to the previous tour with the addition of another new song, "Flickering Flame",[1] which was substituted periodically for "Each Small Candle" as the encore. The band also changed with the departure of Doyle Bramhall II, his wife and back up singer Sussanah Melvoin and Jon Carin. Brought in was Chester Kamen (brother of Michael Kamen, replacing Bramhall), Linda Lewis as back up singer (who later was replaced by Carol Kenyon due to personal issues), and most interestingly Harry Waters (son of frontman Roger Waters) to replace Carin. "

So if you're someone that's ever paid attention to what I post in this thread you'll understand the oddity of the following, but I can't enough of the few singles I've heard so far from Justin Timberlake's new record and even pre-ordered it on iTunes. It's so far from being in my usual range but it's so god**** catchy and not remotely as shallow as 98% of the crap you hear on pop radio.

Just messing. Everybody who's honest has guilty pleasures in their collection.


Otherwise, how do you explain me having Duran Duran, Lady Gaga, The Bee Gees, Justin Timberlake's Greatest Hits etc in mine (to be fair, ours - family collection - although the Duran Duran is all mine :o)?

I believe we'll be getting this new album by him too at some point.

He's an incredible showman. I've said it before, but his appearances on SNL and his hosting of the ESPYs were all really good. He's hilarious.
